Yep! Now that Watame Night Fever is over, I can elaborate a bit.

Just regular Bonebros Banter at the start before leading into Karaoke, where Mori gave Gura some encouragement. Crowd as responsive as one might expect from a sold-out hall. But everyone got lost sometimes because Mori’s mic dropped to nothingness, causing Red and Nezumi scheme to be drowned out. Also a lot easier to fan-cheer for those songs since they’re old and established.

Cute moment where Gura needed more time to pull up the song, and asked Mori to cover for her, so she described her cinnamon throat tea and three drinks on her table while rapidly getting faster.

Very accurate. The game picks up only in the final chapter. It feels disjointed, like it's been re-written and shuffled a dozen times. You start with a clear goal, you enter the open world and just do fuck all, you ran errands and faff around for 60 hours and in the final chapter the game is like, oh, wait, here's plot, here's the character you grew to love(lol nope), here's an explanation to everything, here's more lore. All this in the last hour. And it actually fun to play and learn, but where was all this in the rest of the game?

I'm playing through 4 for the first time now and I'd still say the gameplay is far from the balance they intend.

The enjoyment I get out from it is still treating it as a puzzle game (like the original) and working out how to win in one round, or the fewest rounds possible in cases of hard gating.

There's not much you can't do with Raz with defence up, abusing Command to reset AP along the way, sometimes using the APC for extra distance or applying anti-tank up depending on what needs to be killed along the way.

Not that I'd be watching Mori play it for optimising combat. I don't see a playthrough working just from the sheer volume of cut scenes and the impact of hard resets, which would probably lend itself to too much backseating as she lost confidence in her decisions.

The main issue with VC is that it prioritizes speed over tactics and it has a bunch of unlocks behind high ranks.
So while you might wanna be all tactical and shit, the game doesn't reward you for it, its easier to just blitz missions with the OP chars and order spam.

Maybe I'm a brainlet but I never had this problem with VC1. It never occurred to me to blitz everything with scouts so I just played most of the game "normally". Then I would replay the stages later for better ranks. It was only after reading stuff online did I realize you could speed blitz most maps with a scout.
Thank god I didn't realize that sooner. The desert stage against the BATOMYS tank and the castle siege stage were fucking awesome the way I played them.
