I don't even remember seeing Phase Connect, Production Kawaii, Prism Project or Tsunderia advertisements any where other than at or for conventions. Relying mostly on collabs and word of mouth to get themselves known, which of course does fucking nothing at all with an already abysmally small footprint. It's the first corpo I know of that even had an advertisement campaign, period.

I suppose you can say it's noble or keeping it real to not rely on ads and only let legit interest power you, but the thing is one kind of can beget the other for something like this where the word of mouth is somewhat powered by the ads.

Like, someone may not have noticed or clicked (or simply blocked) an Idol Corp ad but maybe someone else didn't and at least saw the designs and thought "some of these look cute" and then asked in a bored moment on a random discord "so does anyone know about this idol corp thing, their designs look good" etc.

Ultimately I guess the simple answer is ads cost money and most small corpos didn't have a lot of capital. So then, of course Nijisanji had money to plunk down for ads, so they had them.. and you ask yourself, do the Jews have money for ads? Yes. Yes they do. GFE is a weird intangible thing, like, for a lot of people I think you don't want it to be too on-the-nose, you don't want to just feel blatantly pandered to for it because that makes it feel very inauthentic, or at least for me.
