I got a lot better. I can follow simpler casual conversation. I am still not great with vocabulary, especially some slang.

I've been studying about 20 minutes a day for a year and a half or so. I can follow along with some streams pretty well. I would recommend it.

There's some characters in Japanese that I just go "fuck off" like シ which has two ones that look almost exactly the same. It's easy to learn some but the ones that look the same really fuck me up. Also I've been struggling with the '' because it sometimes makes a character start with b and sometimes it makes it start with d. I can't find a rule on how to tell

I understand using Kanji and Hiragana or Kanji and Katakana but why tf do Japanese use all three at the same time? There's あ so why the hell do you need to use ア in a mainly hiragana sentence? It feels redundant. They'll be saying stuff like 見て、キレだな for no reason since that could be spelled with just hiragana and kanji or just katakana and kanji. Why do they do it bros?

That makes it easy to read as a whole, as nihongo doesn't use space between words you use kanas and kanjis to make it visually easy to read, and for narrative purposes as well. You can even read between lines with proper knowledge of it, like in slangs or pretty discursive forms.

I started learning nihongo way before vtubers but is watching them what made me pro at it. I can understand 95% of what my chuubas say even if they're at x100 speed. Reading is still hard but I'm getting better.
