Kiara lacks innate talent but is devoted and hard working. When things were starting the more talented and varied members were able to much more easily establish themselves but coasting on talent will only get you so far before you burn out. Kiara has some character flaws but she has gotten better rather than worse on those unlike certain other coworkers. Someone that does their actual job to the best they can every time can win out in the long run.

Well there is truth to that. Fauna is better at constructing and maintaining a consistent front of her manufactured image that is more in line with traditional idol aspects of personality and behavior, but kiara is obviously going to outperform in idol singing and dancing due to her actual decade of experience and underlying love of idols. But while Kiara streams more Fauna is much more targeted in her choices. This makes sense as Fauna had already been a streamer and vtuber, wishes to be one and focusing on how she can be successful for her own sake in that field while Kiara is in love with the idol idea but frankly was never a very successful one.
Kiara may actually care more about her fandom (which is viciously obsessive in turn) but Fauna is better at evoking the appearance and mannerisms of care as Kiara’s natural tendency toward rudeness and selfishness slip out a bit more compared to Fauna’s same feelings.
Fauna is smarter than Kiara, or at the very least more cunning. That is not always a good thing but at least she puts it to use in capitalizing on her assigned role at Hololive and the expectations therein as opposed to certain coworkers. The classic “work smarter, not harder”. I’m not a fan of Fauna but I do find her tactics and strategies quite inspired.
Quantity does have a quality all its own though.

Those are skills rather than talents. She earned that shit through years of hard work and failure.
Of course the truth is that many things one would consider talents are truly a talent nurtured to develop further skill with it. And as you said, without a consistent venue for it dancing is indeed much harder to capitalize on even as a talent compared to others as a vtuber streamer.

I’m not a real member of the fandom for Kiara nor Fauna. That is not to say I do not engage in their content (though less and less these days as it is a time sink I can ill afford) but I’d like to think I am can be a bit neutral. I understand this thread is going to be KFP country and slanted that way. However my “praise” of Fauna in comparison is hardly praise and I doubt saplings would see it as such. Of the two I like Kiara more though Fauna is more likeable (because she is better at appearing that way). I think Kiara is much more admirable compared to Fauna but that Fauna is more interesting in a behavioral sense. If HoloEn next gen has more people like Kiara I think it would be better off than if it had more people like Fauna.

I was wrong to say she lacks innate talent because I framed it as an absolute when I meant it comparatively, in that she lacks innate talents most initially useful in her field (of being a vtuber entertainer) compared to her genmates.
Of course she’s one of the biggest English streamers, she’s Hololive. The Hololive buff is no joke, I don’t think Kiara would have been nearly as successful indie or with another corporation tjough that goes the same for anyone in modern Hololive. Just look at how her luck was prior to Hololive. Raw Popularity and numbers paint a picture but not a completely useful one.
Kiara absolutely doesn’t take it for granted and is extremely devoted and hardworking. In fact I think one of her initial problems was that she was TOO eager to succeed when she started as her big break compared to previous years of failure. Over time she got better, got more comfortable and got in a better place mentally but retained her hard working values that have lead to her standing out as a model to which others should aspire. But as much as she improved I think other coworkers fe even more, which just makes Kiara’s diligence and performance that much more stark.

You people fundamentally misread Kiara, and that's why. You see, Kiara is not a contrarian that can live with being hated like Mori or Kronii. Deep down she wants to be liked by everyone, but her abrasive personality and Germanic bluntness makes her self-sabotage. The fact that she was already an idolfag meant that she wouldn't stray too far from that ideal in the first place, and all she needed was to reign in her over-the-top personality and calm down. She still has slip-ups once in a while, but the fact that she's happy at home and not miserable and alone in Japan means that she was never gonna make the FINAL YAB like everyone thought she would.
