Doesn't make sense, what's hurting most for EN is all the dead hours, and the inability for common collabs. The minecraft server especially is hurt from all the dead hours. At least for the 2nd gen, 5 is just fine, there's plenty of room to fill.

We'll never get Homostars EN because they'd have to be Jerma / Northernlion / Ludwig tier streamers to not get ineccessantly hated by the GFE fags that plague Cover. And that's not happening, since "good" male streamers just do regular face cam instead of becoming vtubers.
And I doubt that Cover wants a repeat of what happened when Homostars debuted, so yeah.

HoloMyth has the bar incredibly high. EN2 will absolutely not reach their level or the hype that has built up. I predict we will get one really popular chuuba at around Mori level of popularity, the rest will be average.

I am curious what theme the next gen will be though. The narrative idea for gen releases was a very good idea, and It really resonated with the community (all the fan art). So how will they replicate that with gen 2. Will they create a self contained narrative that can be mixed and matched with gen 1? Or will they be additions to the overall narrative? There sure as hell are plenty of myths to go around.

I dont envy them. Gen2 is going to be the real test for whether Hololive EN is a 1 hit wonder or not. Its also an issue that there isn't any real 'mama' for the group, like Mio for example. Ame sort of tries to fill that role, but she's young herself. Its time EN get a hagtuber for that mama energy, but how do you do that with the differences in culture? Probably the best idea would be an English fluent Japanese Vtuber. Likewise, there's no real 'leader' or representative for EN just yet (though that's not too big an issue this early into the game). But someone who can be commonly agreed to act as a sort of 'chief', like Fubuki with JP, would be desirable for both talent cohesiveness, fan security, and quality of life. But you also don't want the influence to get to their head... and Fubuki is a real special breed in that respect. A true fan, and incorruptible in that regard. Finding the same thing for EN would be very difficult, and probably the best chance of that is with the first generation, who did not have an expectation of a hundred thousand plus subs by debut. but who can step up? I dont see it.

Ina doesn't even stream at prime american hours let alone has the time to do so due to priestess duties. Afaik she said that she's comfortable streaming at this time even after she stops working and just wants to increase the duration of the stream (and having a set streaming time means viewers retention is usually higher than a scattered schedule). Said timezones let her have collabs with ID and JP at a weird but reasonable time for the former. Hopefully next EN gens gives us a more flexible collab times.

I think there's a slight possibility it could be bigger than 5. I imagine they got a LOT of applications this time compared to last, possibly some very high spec people with a lot of potential. Possibly more than 5 of them. They could tell those people to chill for 6 months and they can be in Gen 3, no ideal. They could just let them go and hope they don't don't go become indies or Vshoujo and have enough success they won't apply again, not ideal. Or they could just bump the gen up to 6-7-8 people if they really believe in the talent. Still unlikely, but not impossible.
