Everyone just wants to take the easy route and utilize a formula that's proven to work. Why *should* they take a risk and employ a male? This is the same reason why movie studios will make reboots and sequels instead of original works. It's safer, but it's no fun.

I'm sorry that your epic plan (that probably millions of other dudes had given a thought) to become a male vtuber to get close to Holos to fuck them, isn't gonna work out.

On a more serious note the streamer audience in the West itself just doesn't seem to have a large audience of female viewers. There have been plenty of male vtubers in the West now, and none of them really catch on however unless they outright play as a girl or look rather like one. Ultimately the basic core pillar is "people watch vtubers because they like cute girls" rather than wanting a funny friend simulator.

Such a thing does exist in Japan but not really here yet. Probably the closest I've seen to acceptance of the idea around here is adopting our son Roberu, but Holostars success is still just a tiny fraction relative to Hololive's regardless. I'm not sure what kind of Faustian bargain the top Niji males made to somehow gain a big fujo audience but they seem more an exception than the rule.

This list is a fantastic example of how male vtubers aren't actually viable in this market. Aisriale, Spacer and Kongou are the only ones you could possibly make a case for being pure-bred vtubers while all the others already had fanbases to get them started, and all three are actually MASSIVELY boosted compared to even most women.

Despite this, none of those three actually do all that well. We're calling them successful males when a woman with their numbers would be considered middling at best.

The fact is that BungoTaiga is actually the only one on the list that performs consistently well and he goes in and out of just acting like a woman. Even people like Takahata and Merryweather who have massive existing fanbases perform far more inconsistently in viewership and far worse in revenue than women half their size.

All these companies refuse to debut men because by the numbers, by the facts, male vtubers don't work in the west. The Japanese scene has always had a male presence, but there are still zero reliably popular male vtubers in the West. Any exceptions that exist are clear exceptions, they're all people who got here with a massive advantage and still perform far worse than women.

I don't doubt that plenty of them are talented, Takahata's obviously very good, but his numbers when he streams on his own versus when he streams with a boost from his friends is worth over 500 viewers. The corporations aren't debuting men because you can't count no men getting numbers at all yet.

ID males actually do much better than EN males on average for some reason I don't understand. Zen Gunawan is as far as I know fully indie and does great, they have a huge amount of guys that pull in the 50+ range without help. My best guess is that vtubers are part of the regular streaming pool in Japan and Indonesia but over here everyone watching is a weeb looking specifically for cute anime girls.
I'm sure if hololive or nijisanji debuted a male he'd do fine but I can't imagine it's worth the investment compared to just pooling towards another woman.

Because it's a risk from a business perspective.
There's also not exactly many men who can perform a character that's suitable for the vtuber audience. Because the vtuber formula has a certain mode in which it operates. You need someone who is somewhat charismatic through voice alone, but also calm. If you look at successful streamers, they're all more or less aimed at what's essentially boys and young teenagers. They yell very loudly and they scream and spout memes. It's the sort of thing that would appeal to someone who has just discovered the internet and learned what a "pogchamp" is. But that doesn't really appeal to weeaboo women in their 20s and 30s (the ones that bring in the money), success of people like Connor nonwithstanding. And while you can go for the meme spouting "we want the kid audience" character, you're still better off hiring a woman to do it, there's more money in that.
While using the term "seiso" for male idols might not be quite appropriate, that's essentially what you're looking for and if you look at homostars and successful nijisanji males, they all are. Because that's appealing to the niche market they're aiming for.

Or you just appeal to the saviordykes with someone like Mashiro.

That's really what it is it's a risk with virtually no payoff. Either the guys eat shit and cap out at 5k subs or they do well but not as well as if they just got another woman.
