Twitch is more lax on DMCAs since it's in platform to automatically remove the copyrighted songs iirc while you have to manually remove them on Youtube. Amazon screen sharing is also a thing so for watch-alongs, you don't have to buy/rent your own movie, you can just watch the stream.

But if you're affiliated on Twitch, you can't post content on Youtube or any other platform. Also, VODs get automatically deleted on Twitch after 2 months or so.

I think as a company, Youtube is "better" mostly for being able to keep VODs, but I mean they can also just have a Youtube channel for VODs if they are willing

Look at every fucking big Hololive stream, there's no such thing as culture. You have bunch of idiots screeching at each other in chat while streamer is pretending that they read this fucking mess.
It's not Twitch culture vs YT Culture, it's just big streams will by default have fucking cancerous viewers.
On the other hand smaller streams are pretty nice to watch and experience on both platforms equally. Tho Twitch has few quirks allowing for more streamer-chat and chat-chat interractions. YT on the other hand has less cancerous staff.

Just think of it as alcohol during prohibition era in the US. Alcoholic beverages' production, sale, and transport across state lines is illegal. However private ownership and consumption is legal. So they can't jail you just because you have booze in your house, unless it was clear you made it. Laws are retarded like that. Why do you think Lawyers are expensive as hell?

Once you drop the retarded "Vshoujou on Twitch westerners use Twitch IT BAD SITE BAD SCARY CULTURE" meme and start realizing how much better instant chat interaction, raids, sub gifting, redeems and globally usable sub emotes are most of you will see the light too

Current Niji fanbase doesn't have that sort of box loyalty, they won't watch EN, even for debut. That said twitch isn't exactly a good choice either, as the community there generally hates weeb stuff. Expect the chat to be heavily trolled without good mod support.

And even after all of that, its still a barely usable mess of a platform for livestreaming. Chat delay is horrendous, the chatbox itself lags the whole site, its even worse when you try to use emotes, and the layout is trash for chatting and watching in unison unless you pop the chat out and put it on a second screen. Not even to mention the constant disconnects for no apparent reason when the whole livestreaming side of the site decides to shit itself. I am so much happier on Twitch now because I have 1/10th of the problems with the platform and dozens of advantages on top of all those issues being cleared up

You are hearing narratives and clickbait anecdotes. The average annoying twitchnigger is no worse than the people that stumble into YouTube chats. ("MY FAMILY JUST DIED LETS GOOOOO" is universal) Shitters are shitters no matter the platform, and if they pop up you just ban them and move on. Moderation exists for a reason.

Twitch is the smartest move for them
Nijisanji is really not well known at all in the west, on twitch they'll get a ton of exposure through raids and collabs with Vshojo and the bigger EN indies, they'll be invited to stuff like Twitch Rivals, get to network easily with the plethora of smaller indies, appear on podcasts like Codemiko's, have clips of them breaking down in happy tears over hype trains, etc
It's better for them to be on the platform where their biggest competitor will help them grow rather than be on youtube and have half their audience vanish the second gura goes live

This is incredibly true. Their biggest asset can be the sense of community they can create within the network of other conpanies and indies. Hololive is a closed loop, they are an island out at sea who fires heatseeker missiles at anyone who tries to get close. An isolationist state that feels sterile and corperate. Niji bucking that trend and feeling like an open family that collaborates across the sphere could endear them to the west in ways that Cover seems incredibly reluctant to do, whether it be due to the idol culture they have trapped the brand within, xenophobia from middle management, or just straight up standard corperate roadblocks put up by middle aged out-of-touch executives
