I really like Roboco Choco Mel, etc.., and have actually been trying to crack this. Maybe it's that they're old hat to japan, you know being the oldest and all. But that doesn't work, right? Like all of Gen 2 outside of Choco is actually pretty huge. Subaru can get 12k people just listening to her chat and she's not even the strongest in gen 2. Not even top two maybe. And then, like, well, Gen 0, maybe, but no Sui and Miko. Gen 1 kind of has it rough. Haachama is like firing everything to be popular and Fubuki despite being in two gens and cementing herself as like the heart of hololive has healthy numbers at best let's say. I guess they could just suck at streaming but not really? Aki is trying her fucking heart out. She is trying so hard. Different games. Meme games. Singing. 3d stuff. It's so sad seeing that not work. And, like, Roboco is fine as a streamer. And she can get into things. It's not always a sleepy voice. But Roboco is really bad at playing trendy games way after theyre done being trendy. Choco is fine? Is her voice too asmry? Like 800 people watching her play Yakuza? Really? That's it? She's that bad? That obnoxious? Maybe it's that they don't have narratives, like, ships? But like Mel is collabing all the time. And her collabs are legitimately really good. Her Ame bomb one was actually great.

I think the biggest thing is that the gen 1 that still get attention are the clipper darling girls.
Like it or not, clips and translators are what can keep a holo relevant and high in number. Fubuki got that pretty early, Haachama's catching on.

Aki's situation was sort of tragic, she got a bunch of sympathy EOP subs but not a huge amount of new JP subs from that event.

If you wanted to genuinely help your oshi start clipping and translating. Moon speak is incomprehensible to EOPs, and for better or worse to get big gotta pander somehow, or just accept you'll just be by the wayside forever.

gotta remember that after cuts/tax the holos would only make about 15% to 20% of the overall income they generate. coco might have made 2 million in supers vs Luna with only 364k, but at 15% after cuts/tax that becomes 300k vs 55k. It's the same ratio but the total is a lot closer.

Consistency is key. I quite like Aki, but there's no denying if you're an EOP or even just bad at JP she's hard to keep up with. Clips and fan translations are nice for bridging that gap, there's a reason her whole explosion happened because of that.

It is like starting a fire, and even fire needs consistent fuel to keep going.

Aki is not at the top of Hololive and it's fine. She's got a core fanbase that cares about her, makes enough money for a living and keeps growing, even if it's slower than most

There are two things that interested me in Choco, Dead by Daylight and her cooking streams. In DbD, she plays upbeat music over the game which ruins the mood, and her cooking streams don't have any camera so I'm just listening to her talk until the food is done, which isn't that interesting. Same as Aki, Choco is at bottom of Hololive but still makes mad money so I guess she's satisfied with where she is

They're doing better than 95% of Nijis, they'll be fine. Even the guy that used to be top Niji in term of numbers like Maimoto only got 2k viewers today(can't confirm it though since Hiyoko is down). Losing relevncy is normal, their viewerships are gonna go down if they can't get new fans to replace the one they lost fast enough.
