jim crow laws aren't the reason black families are mostly single parent, neither is poverty.
black families in general have a higher rate of absent fathers then white families at the same income bracket.

Many conservatives just assume black culture, like their deity, is a fixed thing that explains their problems. I see nothing as a fixed thing. They all come from somewhere, cultures or deities. So the question to ask is: how did black culture evolve throughout the history of the US, and what were the factors which affected it?
