And what kind of Kayfabe though? Like fuck tons of vtubers do the ... "Oh yeah... when I was slaying dragons" style token comments every now and then. But none of them actually *come off* as though they really were their characters, like say Kongou and the Rummy+Coqui crew.

Komatsu doesn't come across as a dragon in human form, she comes across as a normal girl, and if she randomly makes some lore comments here and there, or tells RL stories with vtuber kayfabe, that is basically what even the most generic vtubers that aren't default male vroid hoodies are doing.

i don't get why people keep bringing up kayfabe for vtubers. unless you're literally scripting out each stream as if it were a pre-recorded and edited episode, what's the point? if all you're doing is just putting on a voice, what's the point?

it's not like any viewer legitimately goes into twitch stream thinking "oh boy, i wonder which character arc will be developed in this story line!"

I'm not big myself but I'm friends with a lot of big (200+ viewer) chuubas. The ones I'm close to just genuinely have a nice personality and enjoy the company of other vtubers and hanging out off stream and collabing once in a while.

They're not "creating content", they're just finding games they like and streaming them. The only ones I talk to that actually make content that isn't just them playing games or watching videos on stream are the smaller ones trying to make a name for themselves.

What I think would be fun is to commission artists to do art of him, and use their drawings of him. Usually the PNG setup involves hotkeys to change expressions, so Default would just be your default of course, then Hotkey 1 will both turn off default and at the same time activate Shocked/Happy/Angry etc so that you're able to seamlessly transition. There's probably a better method now but this is the purely OBS one I'm aware of.

It starts off as a pain but easily becomes muscle memory. I do similar with 3D, my brain is pretty conditioned to do the "Shocked" face button when I'm actually shocked to the point I'll do it off stream in discord calls.
