Not exactly numbers since our current numbers anon did them already, but here's some discussion on something I've been thinking about recently.

We all noted in the past that the longer a subathon drags on the lower it tanks that vtuber's ccv, but I've come to a conclusion that multiple subathons of larger vtubers not only tank their CCV, but tank that of other vtubers.

I haven't dug deep into the numbers but I noticed the huge rebound in numbers for everyone now that the major subathons are over across the board. When Mouse and Lily were both doing one back in Feburary March we memed that they were killing the viewership pool by sucking it up, but I think this last month proved that if you have multiple large streamers going all at once with subathons (Saruei, Bao, Filian, Tricky) that is encourages viewers to stick to their main oshis/chuuba and not branch out most of that month. It also means that the raid system of "Big /lig/ raids into smaller /lig/" was not fuctioning the way it had during the summer because the big /lig/s had their audiences captive so overlapping viewers stuck with one specific streamer for several days/weeks.

Again, i don't have a lot of evidence outside of giving the various numbers an early glance, but it's just my hunch this is the case. It will be interesting if Shylily's subathon on the 4th causes any impact because usually October is a good streaming month, specifically if you are playing horror.

I'm not at the unfollow them tier with subathons yet but I'm now of the mindset the best way to do a subathon now is a capped 12-48 hour subathon and plan enough things to make it feel like an event. It's obvious the longer the subathons drag on the worse the quality gets and they no longer feel special after a bit. I think it's better to just have a 48 hour weekend with stuff going on most of the time that has some goal or big reveal tied to it. Less draining for the audience and the chuuba.
