The splits are a big deal. There are a few more important reasons though. For one, they probably make quite a bit of money off adds from vod views. They also can take advantage of the very powerful YT algorithm to advertise to new audiences (this works better the bigger you already are). Most importantly though, they have a much higher audience cap on youtube than on twitch. There are just a lot more people that use youtube on a day to day basis than twitch, granted most of them don't watch streams, but its not that hard to convert them to stream watchers.

Basically, if you have a ton of virality and an established audience just waiting to watch your new streamers its much better to debut on YT than on Twitch. Especially since these big corpo tubers would probably be making a YT to host old vods, music videos, edited videos, shorts, and other stuff like that anyways, it really just makes more sense to be on youtube and only youtube.

Twitch only makes sense for those that are either starting from absolutely nothing (everyone here), people that have an extremely established fanbase on twitch already who would lose 90% of their audience if they moved to YT, or people who put 0 effort into anything other than just streaming (no vods, no edited videos, no shorts, no nothing).

I started streaming as a chuba a few months ago but when things were looking good some idiots tried to cancel me over a stupid tweet and I lost a bunch of followers in a single day. I made an apology to avoid damage, blocked the haters and kept streaming but until this day I keep checking my followers every time I am on Twitter. If I lose 1 or 2 followers or people block me I immediately start to panic that I did something wrong but I already toned down my tweets and I don't know how to proceed. I am really scared that some idiots are gonna come out again and try to end me that's why I keep checking my followers but it gives me anxiety and I want to stop. Any idea what could help?

I don't like twitch chat and streamer culture and I prefer youtube for its stream architecture and vods retention but part of me really wonders if I'd have more than 2 people watching by now if I started on twitch instead of youtube. Some caveats are I didn't shill myself in my first month because I was too nervous at the idea of random people watching me, and since then I've only shilled myself here, so my marketing reps are basically 0.
