Eh, not so much. At least in the way Kizuna was handled. As a result of the Kizuna attempted replacement fiasco, everyone realized it's not like replacing a VA for an anime character. The VA is absolutely the avatar of the character, and Kizuna Ai taught upd8 a hard valuable lesson thateveryone worldwide noticed.

Once you fire a VA, the character is gone. Look at Coco and Risha. There are no replacements for those characters owned by Hololive.

Literally how I got into Hololive. I wanted to catch up on what Kizuna is doing only to discover some weird shenanigans and three different VAs while the original is absent. At the same time, pretty much whatever she was playing, Hololive was doing as well so you had all those videos in suggestions.

She didn't leave, she got kicked out. During her "anniversary" celebrating Kizuna Ai, they had a stream at her main channel but didn't invite her despite having her face on the thumbnail.
Kizuna woke up in the middle of that stream and streamed in her own account, talking to and thanking people, about 3 digits, who was in her chat at the time.
She sounded as if she was about to cry the entire time.

truth is I initially got into Kizuna because I literally believed she was an actual Super AI. I thought her content, voice, and so on were all generated from a computer. Saw a few threads about it. Actually believed I was a couple years away from literal anime cat girl waifu

It'd be easy to blame it on management fucking up hard with the VA shit and lack of respect for the fans (and that obviously played a large role in halting her momentum), but honestly I think part of it is just that Kizuna's content has always been higher effort to produce than most modern vtubing stuff. Kizuna, if I'm not mistaken, was mostly scripted content with actual motion capture. Hololive members on the other hand are just girls streaming with a phone capture, it's far easier to put out a lot of content in a short period of time. Kizuna just wasn't as financially viable as the hololive/niji model that everyone follows now.

Kizuna ai wasn't a streamer. The usual formula of the channel wasn't cutting it anymore and they refused to change to keep up with the times.

The good old days, when everyone was passionate and creative. When the sky seemed the limit. No unicorns or lazy livestreamer e-thots. A perfect fusion of innovative tech, good content, talented voice acting, and dedicated fans. A new era of entertainment.

Now we have e-thots lazily playing streaming minecraft, complaining about their own audiences, complaining how hard it is to play games for a living, while using old crappy 2D tech.

No innovation, no passion. I'm glad I got to experience it at least, holofags and nijiniggers will never know true areté. Keep dropping those big simp bucks for the lazy girls who hate you though.
