I got a new dynamic microphone and I think my table is too tiny for me to hold it as close as possible while also having a keyboard or a tablet around. I realized I enjoyed my simple headset a lot more, but it keeps giving me migraine after a long use. I cant afford a boom arm either at the moment. I also feel like my voice is too quiet for the dynamic microphone which is what I was afraid of. I have only this week and a half to refund my audio interface and a mic. Maybe i could get a condensed one instead...? Sorry anons i am a compleelte tech-dumb.

Oh, this flavor of menhera? Let's go. There aren't many people that 'get' me. I have a very cynical outlook on most things and my interests are very niche. I have met a grand total of one person in real life that I completely and fully gel with, but he moved to Brazil (not a joke). Now I'm left without my best friend, and in his place is a bunch of fucking surface-level "friends" that will never understand how I operate. I am conventionally very successful. This isn't to brag, but I socialize plenty, I out-earn all my peers, and I have most of the hallmarks of purportedly "healthy" existence. I'm also more dead inside than ever before. I will say that streaming has helped to alleviate this to a degree. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve and I think it's helped me find at least a few people that I think share some perspectives with me. In a few cases, we truly are scarily similar. But so long as these friendships are confined to an online space, I don't think it's going to fully eliminate the sense of emptiness I get when I wake up every morning. I just want one person that I can share an intimate mutual understanding with, is that so much to fucking ask? Just one. I don't need to care about anyone else- hell, my immediate family and I barely understand each other at this point. Just give me one person. Everyday I see all these people walking around and none of them are for me.

You can be less than 3ft away from the mic and be loud enough with no noticeable ambient.
You can be less than 2ft (24incbes btw) and be loud enough to pass noticeable ambient from gain and that’s also while with off-axis position.
I’m not sure what a person could possibly do while VTubing anyway that would put them in an angle that doesn’t cross with the area directly in front of the mic, or one that doesn’t also put them outside the mic area and their tracking.

You don’t have to literally use the microphone the same way you would live performing. Yes the dynamics (of the sound, not dynamics like the mic type) will change, but this is why people should read the spec (it’s not always accurate for very specific mic) and EQ the mic or change the dynamics (by positioning) as appropriate for the sound you want from the sound you have and to best accomodate other needs like space for proper mouth tracking.

This guy doesn’t even VTube and is a tourist, but you can also use the animate mouth by sound/voice in VTube Studio and I don’t think anyone would notice the change, because most of the people who are doing this are quite frankly boring and not that facially animated anyway.

Less than 6inches and directly addressing the mic or indirectly addressing it slightly (more at closer proximity) is sufficient.

Anybody know some good examples of a really good grand strategy streamer? It seems like the kind of game that is quite difficult to stream well. Do you just zatsu while playing it or something?

The real answer to it is to just not care anymore. Take memories as they are and don't attach them to people, so even if they turn out to be garbage, you still got something out of it.

As easy as it looks, grand strategy is pretty particular on certain mechanics dependent on game. Civ is a little easier to nobrain but there's lots of micromanagement that isn't immediately obvious which is why it's easy to get tunnel visioned. I think the literal straw that broke the camel's back for me was seeing a typo in one of the e-mails or whatever that I was reading.
