Why is it being called "live"

Because the japanese loan word ライブ is a shortened version of "Live Concert", but in practice simply means "concert". Much like how when they joke about watame's food delivery service, they go with "uber sheep", instead of "sheep eats", which would make more sense. Once you transplant a word to another language, its meaning is subject to change like any other native word.
Then because of Hololive Culture, it just got adopted to english as is again.
Not too different from "anime", which is originally short for "animation" and in Japan does refer to any kind of animation, but then got imported to english (and other languages) again to mean specifically japanese animation.
