I feel it's the personality and the voice. The use of intonation, slang, and banter that would only be common with those you trust builds intimacy. When you watch her, it's as if you're with a friend you've known for months / years. She does this and makes it feel genuine; with the other holos I often feel that they're actors and not people.

The main things that made Gura succeed are:
- Her previous Youtube account had close to a million subscribers, and many of them likely migrated to Gura.
- She consistently starts streams at around 8-10 PM EST, which is American primetime.
- She gravitates towards streaming games which are popular in general and not just in Hololive, such as Resident Evil 2 Remake, Skyrim, Super Metroid, etc.
- Her design is cute and marketed a bit towards children. And she takes advantage of this by trying to keep things PG or at least PG-13 at worst.
- She's good at doing clip-worthy things.
- Youtube's algorithm makes it so that once you get a lead, Youtube will recommend you more and thus you'll have an easier time further growing that lead.

5 & 6. They go together. People clip her because youtube pushes her and they want more views on their clip channels. This pushes out more videos and streams of hers to more and more people because youtube sees the viewcounts and demographics for the videos is wide so it pushes out more clip vids which in turn generate more traffic to those clip channels and to Gura herself.
