Engaging their chat using references to other talents in Hololive is just good content, and the girls should use this to their advantage.

Keeping up the lore/facade also plays into the engagement and retention game. So much so in holoJP's case that it extends beyond a single Holo/channel all the way up to the whole box. If you care and gave a shit only about pekora for example, you'd spend time getting to know her genmates, or other holos that happens to play on the same Rust server as her (considering they might be relevant characters in her next 'arcs') and then you end up genuinely giving a shit about multiple holomembers, and the cycle repeats. They struggle and give you that starving artist vibe. Yes, they were awkward af but, you could feel their passions and their gratefullness towards their fans and their strive toward improvement.
