I prefer Stage 1. It's a lot more mindless. Plus things are easier, so you're more likely to survive a long time. If you're farming, you're not really in it for the challenge.

I beat stage 1 hard with 4 halu with Kiara before even noticing there were new movement/attack/health upgrades, and it wasn't even that challenging. I'm not sure Mumei is the best character for this. But with Mumei I'm struggling to get a good halu run going. Mumei has no defensive kit of her own so I need something to defend and heal, probably multiple items, and then my damage falls off to the point where 4/5 or 5/5 halu saplings will just not die fast enough and move too fast to avoid.

I've also died multiple times to that one event where two columns of saplings teleport in to trap you. If I'm moving horizontally I'll run right into one of them and die instantly. Really annoying, the dev even changed it recently to give you more room but it didn't help much.

With how the game batches experience (which didn't change this update, it's just more obvious) if you have enough damage output to stand still the benefit of limiter is pretty minor. Some tips:

1) Don't max an important item unless you HAVE to, this keeps the number of "hits" in your item pool as high as possible for as long as possible
2) Likewise, pick up crucial items and leave them at rank 1 forever because picked up items are more likely to be rolled
3) Hover around a fixed point on the map and STAY THERE, this stops you bleeding exp gems, I recommend the Yagoo statue on stage 1 and the TV just to his right on stage 2
4) Share some coins for just a single rank of reroll in the shop. The first reroll you need is likely the most crucial one in the run
5) Keep your collab items as equal in level as possible. If you max one while the other is still 1, you only have 1 chance of hitting in on level up, whereas if both were still rank 4 you'd have 2 chances of hitting a drop to work towards the collab
6) DO NOT USE ANVILS THE MOMENT THEY DROP YOU RETARD. Only anvils can push the damage of a weapon beyond 100%, so try and use them for that purpose. 120% damage is well worth the 50 coins. Also save a bunch of them for quickly maxing an important item like Halu (if farming coins)

There are only so many items in the pool that you care about at a given moment. Once you max an item, it's removed. If you have Lava Bucket 5 and Psycho Axe 6, you want to upgrade Lava Bucket to 6 because it still lets you "hit" both bucket and axe on your next uprade. If you upgrade axe to 7 now you can only hit bucket to work towards Micomet, which is less likely.

Yes. It has to do with the probability that you roll an item when you level up. If your goal is to get MiComet, if you bring Axe to 7 quickly even when you could have leveled the Bucket, then the next level ups you'll be searching for ONLY the Lava Bucket. So the chance of leveling towards MiComet is lower. You'll now get more level ups that have no Bucket (randomly) or Axe (since you leveled it to 7 quickly). Bah so many useless levels. If it just gave me a few more levels of haste I think I would have had it, but for the last ~20 levels I only got a few attack upgrades and I'd already capped crit. Chama is retarded and has almost 0 game sense, but shes also a pretty fast learner and very persistent when she gets invested enough to go autismo mode so can end up pretty damn good at specific games she invests in, see super bunny man or tetris. Sapling gives a passive atk bonus and guardian tree does active damage and is supported by literally every single part of her hit to the point where you SHOULD be doing great damage. I personally suggest headphones and idol costume (if you can get it to show up) for more whisper uptime because the passive healing on whispers means more guardian tree procs. The rest of your passive build can be whatever the hell you want but you SHOULD be doing more than enough damage. She can even handle Halu on hard mode so stage 2 should be fine (though I haven't tried her on stage 2)

I can't be the only one who thinks Sora's special is actually good, right? I personally use piki piki piiman and idol costume to keep it up as much as possible and it makes Sora a dream to play. Ame is now in a really strange place where she's one of exactly two characters with a direction-locked weapon. None of the new characters got saddled with horizontal-only weapons and her weapon, on its own merits, is now a worse version of Roboco's unupgraded weapon that also can't aim freely. IRyS also gets was more vertical coverage from her weapon, so Ame's weapon is by far the most limited, and the spread from awakening the gun does nothing.

That being said Ame is nowhere near as weak as Sora and Ame still gets a lot of crit, damage, and has a useful special that is good for stalling out hard waves in stage 1 hard.
