>uhh, how so? Isn't it just a magic rock? It only requires some mining and maybe some praying, right? If it needs some kind of refinement, then the methodology can easily be stolen. There's nothing really mentioned in the doc about "only natives can make this particular Chuubanite". You'd think that would be important.
the chuubanite doc in the anchor is taking a very long time to be finished, he still hasn't even written about the container analogy. anyways, if you've read the doc then i can't figure out why you think chuubanite is just "mine it and pray". each type of chuubanite requires a whole process of discovery. first of all, it's not just some rock. it's an element. describing it as a rock is easy, but the truth is that the refining process is different for every kind of chuubanite, and it can take the form of any matter, including air. as for using it, activator substances and glyphs are also different for each kind of chuubanite, and it is potentially very dangerous if mishandled.
as i said, stealing methodology is not as simple as you seem to make it out to be, especially when the costs of establishing industry for a particular purpose can be very costly and time consuming. keep in mind, even if you have the raw industrial power to be able to recreate something if you knew how to, you'd need to re-coordinate said industrial power towards being able to make anything, and that's skipping over all the other things you'd need to get around.

I originally planned for the oil to be something extracted from the conifer trees (which have a bunch of them according to all these essential oil ads) but I changed it to something extracted from animal to give them functions I intend the oil to have, and also show another facet of the gentleman’s attitude
>interaction between the guard and the songstress
The owlet reference’s something I stumbled upon while researching owl. It’s oddly fitting given how the songstress ended up being depicted in my writing. I suppose it’s also kinda fitting since Lofi’s character is meant to be kinda bratty (even though she just ends up being incredibly cute)

>it's not just some rock. it's an element
Wasn't that Vitubium? Actually, what form does raw Vitubium even have? Is it a gas? a solid? a liquid? it's only stated as being unstable and immediately seeking to bond with things, implying that it's some kind of ephemeral non-substance. It doesn't help that the doc can't decide if it's a substance or a particle. Where does it even come from?
>stealing methodology is not as simple as you seem to make it out to be
It's, what, the 18th century? The way you're explaining the sheer level of industrialization involved makes Chuubanite production seem equivalent to nuclear warheads. The doc only mentions Chuubanite as being any substance with a high enough presence of Vitubium, even listing a simple alloy as an example of 'a type of Chuubanite'. Heck, I could make alloys in my own backyard.
The only thing I'm unsure of is how much effort it would be to create an "active effect". But I don't really care about this. Especially when just the passive effect can be crazy enough as it is.

>> No.32791425

>>32788405
vitubium is the element, yes. sorry if i was confusing you with that. it can bind to any substance, even more macro-scale substances like organic material. that is just one step of the discovery process you'll have to figure out to make use of chuubanite. activator substances and glyphs are also things you'll have to figure out through a long and arduous discovery process, as they can be extremely complex depending on how they are used.
the complexity of a warhead does make the increased costs of reverse engineering vs other options more noticeable but acting like it only applies to post-industrial era innovations is false. this is something that is felt more or less everywhere. the degree is different, and much of all of this is highly dependent on the faction and how they designed their chuubanite, but there is some cost involved in figuring out how something was made that you don't seem to be accounting for at all. passive effects are harder to direct or control. many of their most interesting effects are only noticeable over a much larger scale. depending on how the /ybc/ rep responds to my suggestions to him from the previous thread, it might be completely useless to people who aren't natives just due to how the natives may have evolved around it.
the main point i have is over the discovery process. it wouldn't necessarily be as easy as you think to reverse engineer it, and while it's passive use can be useful, it can also be potentially dangerous, but all of that is subjective except the fact that different types of chuubanite are used radically differently, which should be enough to reduce those incentives you described. maybe we should think of more just to be sure, idk, all i wanted to say was that it might not be as simple as you are making it out to be as it is.

I'm skipping the formalities for this is a serious matter; Destroy the Discord.
I care not that you claim it as containment but what you are doing is creating a new rabbithole, a den of betrayals. Stop this nonsense before it becomes the status-quo and destroys this place.
Can you not see the obvious red flag that is its own name? The platform sow discord within communities.
I've been on multiple projects that were on that site. I've seen cliques making their own servers to plan and stage a coup against the main project.
You think the /soc/postings were bad but once you have a taste for the roles and gif reactions and usernames, it becomes a drug.

I would like to trust anons in this project would be mature and self-disciplined enough to not let anything bleed into the thread too much. And most importantly I don't really think actual cliques are possible. It's meant to be a purely collaborative project with no leadership. It might distance anons here who hate this sort of stuff with those who are okay with it further but I don't see a "coup" happening anytime soon. Yes, you're right. I'm not accounting for that at all. I was operating under the assertion that the discoveries had already been made, and probably written into some dusty tome that now sits around in the village elder's hut or whatever.

some of it might be is tomes, but the majority is expected to not be discovered at all yet, with the stuff that is known being expected to be fairly esoteric. still, depending on how it is recorded, it might still be more of a hassle to figure out than to just pick a different, more peaceful solution. chuubanite affinity is partially determined by magic quanta identity, and also the availability of substances around the vitubium, if my memory serves. each affinity has something different that it is responding to, which makes it represent itself differently. same thing applies to all of it's activator substances and glyphs. basically, using someone else's chuubanite requires the learning of a completely new language, except you need resources to be able to test your assumptions, and a simple mistake could literally blow up in your face. anyways, good night, anon. ty for the discussion. i might actually not be around tomorrow, so if i am not around, that's probably why.

>Destroy the Discord.
Idk man, so far it seems like a pretty good containment option.
>a den of betrayals.
Uhhh, so far it's been talks about Mountain's ass, kindred's everything, beardposting and some pet posting. Don't really see how any betrayals could start taking place when all we really do I actual socposting and hornyposting. We ain't there to start ruining shit, we are there so we can be our horny selves without disturbing the thread.
>The platform sow discord within communities.
This could be said for anything really. Have you looked at the past week on here? If we wanted to ruin this project, forget discord, all we need to keep doing is what has been happening here for like a month more or something. THAT is how you ruin a project. Containing all the socposting off-site so that the main thread remains purely on topic is honestly a good idea, I mean just look at us, 7ish hours and we are at 70 replies, and basically no drama. We removed the problem and it shows.
>plan and stage a coup against the main project.
Alright, now you lost me. How does this make sense when private means of comms have been in use for months now and nothing like that happened? Nasfaqg guys use the dms, panon gen used the Google docs. Did any of them attempt this so called coup against the main project? And why would they?
I feel like you are blowing this waaay out of proportions.
>once you have a taste for the roles and gif reactions and usernames, it becomes a drug.
...and avatar/namefagging is different from this in what way exactly?
>A drug that will decimate the last known pockets of ethics and discipline you have in your heart.
Alright now you REALLY lost me. This feels like it's just your personal bias speaking at this point.
If you really feel that way about it, you are free to make a burner account and keep a watch over it, idk. I feel like having a public server that anyone can join and look at is better than having 10 different Google docs groups forming over time. Specially when said server has been made with one direction in mind: channel soc and horny away from the thread, so that it can go back to being an actual worldbuilding thread (without the btw this time).

Also, hi to you too!

I actually had Tundra Spiders in the setting of one of my longer running D&D campaigns. But they were called "Bed Spiders". They were fluffy, white, and a little smaller than a tarantula and would attempt to crawl into places of warmth and shelter, such as (as their namesake suggests) beds. They were venomous so it was an entire hassle "De-Spidering" your bed in mornings and evening, and checking your boots to make sure there weren't Bed Spiders there either.

"Why would you do this? this sounds horrible and disgusting?"
That's the point. It was a survival campaign, the intent was to create another uncomfortable obstacles the players had to work around.

Oh I planned to go a bit more morbid with them. Same general design, small, fluffy, except their poison would work as a powerful opioid and pain reliever, and they would seek warmth by burrowing into the live bodies of large animals in the tundra, like mammoths, and make small colonies there. Constantly releasing the poison Into the animal would keep them in a state where they couldn't and wouldn't want to get rid of them.

>The Serene Republic of Nasfaqg
In general: Victorian England style names.
However, as the citizenry is multi-ethnic, aspects of other nation's naming conventions may make their way into Nasfaqgian names.
For example, a nasfaqgian citizen who can trace their roots to KFP may have a name such as "Edward Kükenberg", and a nasfaqgian pomudachi could be named "Pomiticus Steelwright".
The Ka-ti Mak have unique names, which take the form of Kat Nol phrases and compound words, mostly referring to nature, numbers, wealth, trading, or money. The Ka-ti Mak do not always have surnames. For example, "Serpher" translating to "Silverhand" would be a valid Ka-ti Mak name.

I appreciate the translations, because the original message is really really really hard to understand (ironic, considering it starts correcting the way the rentry is written kek)

I am more than willing to change everything, as I said before, to make /ybc/ make sense in the context of Vitubia, it's why I constantly ask if what I post makes sense. If I misunderstood the way chuubanite works, I will swiftly make the changes required.

That said, I feel like all of this information would have been very useful had it been in the Chuubanite rentry. Since it's missing, there's no way for me to grasp exactly how it works. There's also a severe lack of defining features which I thought were intentionals (such as the natural state of Vitubium solid/gas/liquid/plasma) to allow nations to pick and choose.

I'll be more careful on it! Also I plan to expand in detail on how exactly the Smithing and Enchanting process works, accomodating what is suggested in the thread from people who know about the chuubanite subject.

Unfortunately, I will decline on your suggestions of "structure". As uncreative as you think "minecraft" is as a base to write from, it also is what /ybc/ is in its entirety, and that's never ever changing. Sorry.

Names should sound Slavic (though most Slavic sounding names I've used thus far are West of Russia). Though more English(West Atlantic), French, German, or Latin sounding names should also be acceptable as immigration is a factor in the lore. Though names that are constructed using the Holo-dhennet language is always welcomed, same as the conlang alphabet. As always things are subject to change, though due to the factor of immigration it's relatively liberal.

Note to rep: Please see if it's okay for now. I'll update it when conlang anon helps us make a language document.

Different types of alcoholic beverages are made in the Owl Republic. In the lastest survey conducted jointly by the Department of Economics and the Bureau of Health in 1125, different types of Beer and Vodka are the most consumed drink by volume, with wine coming in next.

Traditionally, Hooman beer are made with smoked malt and gruit. The type of wood used in different parts of the country also varies. The most famous beer made in the Western Republic uses a mix of apple and beech are used to impart a fruity and nutty taste to the unfermented wort. Some parts of the East also used peat to smoke their malt as well, which gives it a deep, earthy and slightly burnt taste that pairs well with grilled and pot-roasted meat that is often consumed in the region. Gruit are used traditionally to flavour many of the brews in the Republic. Though many kinds of Hop plants are native to the region, their use was never discovered until after the Founding War, brought in by both immigrants and renewed trade with the outside world. The popularisation of hop use if partly due to the preserving effect they have to the beer, which began to be traded across the vast landmass that constitutes the Republic. In the aftermath of the post war trade boom and unification of the East and West, beer making in many parts of the country has gradually conformed to be more standardized. Though gruit have not fallen completely out of use, as many breweries and independent brewer, bars still produce and use their own gruit mix. The more bitter herbs are taken out or reduced, and the dried herb mix are usually added later than the hops to preserve as much of its unique flavor as possible. The use of gruit is a reason Republican beer can enjoy a premium compared to other types of beer in the international market. More modern types of malting kilns have long been made and used in the Republic, though the traditional method of wood smoking is still preserved despite the penchant of novelty and innovation in the country. Sometimes traditions have a reason to remain, the wide selection of beer styles that such a mix of techniques allow is perhaps one.

Vodka is made traditionally with grain. Though spirits distilled from potatoes or a mix of grain and potato became the dominant type in the last two centuries. Some styles are flavored with spice berries. This type is often made into a table drink by pouring it into a pitcher with mashed berries, then diluted with water. Most traditional vodkas are barrel aged, the lightly charred wood gives them a nice aroma and flavor. Most are consumed on their own, chilled in a cellar, or poured into a pitcher full of cut fruits. Aged Vodka similarly also fetch a high price not only due to the use of local herbs but also its aging process. The rocking motion the liquid content undergoes at sea makes Republican Vodka unique compared to many other aged spirits. Its consumption as a luxury item is especially noted in the Eastern Continent.

Wine production is mainly concentrated in the West historically. Though the fertile valley in the maritime climate of the North East has become one of the most profitable wine region in the country in the recent decades. While its consumption is lower, its culinary use is notable. Traditionally a large portion of the must are used to make vinegar instead. The large scale drinking of wine only became more prominent from foreign demand which resulted in overproduction.

While brandy isn't traditionally made on any scale, pomace brandy and other types of fruit brandy are consumed in many parts of the Republic. Apricots, apples, Berries and Peaches are made into a sweet spirit that is often purchased as gifts. Sugar beet molasses are used to distill a bitter tasting brandy in some rural communities. While sugar cubes are often added to make it less unpleasant, the unique flavor of the drink makes it a social drink, where the experience mattered more. It is seen as a bonding exercise to finish a bottle with your buddies.

Notes: Plan on adding more in the future. Supposed to finish the traditional dress but got into a bit of a hole researching drinks.

Any particular cultures (like Bulgarian, Ukrainian, or broader like West Slavic, South Slavic etc.) you'd want to draw from the most when it comes to /who/ names? "Slavic" is extremely broad, and is split between two alphabets.

The thing is our conlang is still under heavy construction. Although we do have an alphabet now I don't know enough about linguistics to know how it would actually sound or how did most of the sounds in Slavic names came to be. I know one of the goals of the conlang is to sound sort of like Russian, but I partly used some more Western Slavic sounding names to make it more "exotic".

I guess. If possible I'd also like to include some influence from different regional dialects and the natural evolution of the language in the names. Kievan Rus' names are probably the oldest names used though. The old alphabet is made up of Runes and /uuu/ also use runes in rituals and incantations, though their current spoken language doesn't have a writing system.

Maybe since it's basically made from fermented wort. But I won't make it significant because most of the foreign and domestic demand is already met with aged Vodka. Also want to mix things up a bit so as to not make it too cliched or tropey.

Wigglies origins are a literal mystery. Gif related is the first wiggly, and its origin seems to be 5ch (Moriko herself tried to track its origins down to no avail about a year ago.) Right now they are used as Twitch emotes so that's the reason they are not part of Holo culture. Maybe one day. As for now, the Holo wigglies can only be found in the divegrass cytube
Wiggly lore says they came to existence by themselves. Actually there are a few stories about their possible origin but I didn't include it because I didn't think they would be relevant and I'm kind of burned out.

I was pretty sure I wrote about it before, but I can't find it in the archive, so I might have misremembered. Regardless, the gist's that most of the Candy Kingdom's agriculture will be in the warmth south. The crops will be fairly similar to that of eastern Europe, so major food crops will be some kind of cold-hardy wheat, rye, oat, barley, and potato, while other notable crops should include apples (including pears and other related plants), beet (which would be the major source of non-magical sugar, I imagine), flax, and sunflower (both good sources of oil).

Depends a lot on the breed. Dumb chuubas have dumb wigglies. Think of dogs.
/wvt/ considers Ancestral wigglies smart enough to hold weapons, so the original wiggly was at least dolphin level.
As far as I know no wiggly can speak. When they do, it is just a goddess wearing their shape.
Retro wigglies make 8 bit sounds, and some seem to make out noises resembling the name of their Chuuba or or one of their iconic phrases. ( Luna wigglies are reported as going "Nanora Nanora nanoraaa" [soundpost]). In this they are much like crows. It is quite possible they have been bred exactly to make only a particular noise, since said noise varies a lot between breeds.

by “structure” i mean that is the underlining concept which determines your chuubanite abilities. read the doc, it’s not changing anything about your lore or whatever, just a more functional word that combines all of the abilities into one physical effect so you can have all of them at once. with that said, i agree with /meat/bro that you shouldn’t simply ham-fist minecraft into this setting. it being the place with the most chuubanite still seems unnecessary even if you use the changes i suggested, and that was based off the idea that everything would be made of perfect cubes. anyways, i’m going to get surgery done, so i might be gone a bit. bye.

>i like the idea of reincarnation as being at least one aspect of our beliefs on the afterlife, as it fits well with the overall concept of "rebirth" and, if you think about it, it's literally possible with the magic system in that thread
>the concept of someone is made out of smaller parts, as is their body, and they survive well past the death of the body and are reused elsewhere, but more than that, the idea of a person doesn't lose coherency immediately after they die. this plays into the whole "second death" idea that, if i am not mistaken, is a belief that mexican types actually had, among other religions.
I'd agree with reincarnation but not in the Buddhist-Shinto sense. More of the 'Valhalla' kind of reincarnation. Where the afterlife is more of a Round 2 with a second death still being possible.

>i want to imagine a belief where, upon death, a person will find themselves as nothing but a concept floating in the vastness of the heavenly realm (vitium space, however you want to describe it) that can feel all the things connected to all of the concepts that make them up, (the ultimate suffering) where their consciousness will slowly fade as time goes on, and they are slowly forgotten, unless their legacy lives on in a new host whose likeness to a given individual from the past is recognized before they fully fade away, after which certain rituals may be used to allow the concepts of those two people to merge, changing both of them slightly in the process but recycling to some extent the concepts associated with those individuals.
So in a vein similar to Chinese folk religion? Ancestor worship being important and that you need to ensure they get their prayers and sacrifices to live in the afterlife.

>it will be intentionally left vague as to whether or not it actually works that way, though i want to say i think it is possible given the setting, and somewhat fitting to our religion
Well, it might due to be my own personal belief, with /meat/'s doctrine revolving around Earthly suffering and the imminent apocalypse, there should be some form of divine reward for sticking through it. You endured the hardships of the material realm, you spread the word that the universe will soon come to an end, you practice painful and burdening rituals of ryona to carry on the suffering of life.
After all that you've been through, surely there would be something for you in return.
Also, with /meat/ religion being very focused on Apocalyptical - Immaterial Focused and Esoteric ideas, there should be a really complex afterlife. You faced the messed up physical reality and woke up into the immaterial beyond, there is much work to be done to stave off the End of Everything.

Kyusai-chan's lore may be a starting point.
Her deaths act as a reset counter for sins. She carries the burden of the mortal realm and through her suffering and pain others will be saved.
So I'm thinking of something... syncretic. Similarly to the concept of Nirvana.
A middle-way of 'Reincarnation' and 'Divine-Eschatological Reward'

Nirvana-Valhalla-Mictlan

If we go the Nirvana route it would be like
>If /meat/head does X, they will be reincarnated
>If /meat/head does Y, they will be sent to the true afterlife (immaterial, omniscient paradise)

If we go the Valhalla route it would be like
>If /meat/head does X, they will be reincarnated in Valhalla-limbo. Going through another cycle until their second death.
>If /meat/head does Y, skips Limbo and go to the afterlife.

I'll keep thinking. Trying to fit in 'second deaths', 'reincarnation', and 'divine eschatology' sounds interesting.

Probably. Off the top of my head, Sapling elders and saplings father along the conversion mostly use forest sense to communicate, so for those living around the deepest part of the forest would have the most linguistic influence from /who/.

Oh, that's a nice breakdown, this really feels like the introductory blurb for an RPG setting or a video game. I like this idea of the apocalypse having those distinct worsening phases; first, the stock markets absolutely eat shit, pretty much overnight. Then, the societies are thrown into chaos as all sorts of things stop working. Then, schizos, their rrats amped up beyond anything imaginable before that by the massive deicide explode in one last glorious burst of schizo activity. And then, finally, nature itself, the slowest to react, has the consequences catch up to it, and enters a crisis. Just a great narrative setup...

It was more me trying to figure out my routine than doing research. I still have some details I need to fine tune. Like how the forest thins out in between the north and south coasts due to cooler currents not bringing in as much rain. This makes the southern coast more like a shrubland than a proper forest. The plateau seems to have the same oceanic climate throughout Lazulight. It only gets colder when you reach the slopes of Mt. Ember in /haha/. And having a deciduous forest around the lake is a no-brainer. It even extends to the base of /haha/'s mountains. Deciduous forests are also full of mushrooms. Truffles would most likely be found in Syrenia.

They are starving and grasping at straws, desperate for any interaction or even a crumb of drama on which they rely.
Ignore them. Let them starve.

What I don't understand is that nothing satisfies them
They want Panon and Alice to stop posting, yet they still complain

They wanted the satisfaction of driving anons off the project presumably. But we just used a completely different method of directing all that stuff to a place that they can't access. And now they are mad. Just ignore them and don't bring the subject up.

Could you tell meabout K.A.G adventurers? I havent yet read the story, so fi they are explained in that, then tell me so i can go check it out

Basically, think of Spanish Conquistadors that aren't aggressive. They are looking for lost wonders of the world to become rich. That's the gist. The Tachibana Go story illustrates this well imo.
>In spite of this, the Company has many volunteers and adventurers that make up what is essentially the muscle of the K.A.G. In the quest to find more gold and treasure in foreign lands in recent years.
This is sort of what I put and need to update.

I have imagined that they would be quite diverse. I think that the biggest distinction one can make about them is whether they are individual adventurers or company-bound ones.

Individual adventurers are people from all walks of life who seek to "make it". They could be prospectors, miners, scholars, artifact hunters, even individual cartographers and explorers. Considering that /nasfaqg/'s population generally descends or has emigrated from the Holonations, some people might be more inclined to go towards their home regions. I'd think that there are three subtypes of adventurers like that: wanderlust-struck travelers, independent contractors, and aspiring traders.
The wanderlust-struck travelers could be rich or poor, adventuring for the sake of adventure. Writers, scholars, or maybe just regular people for whom their journey became their nature. They probably have some way of sustaining themselves to make the ends meet, and might partake in an occasional odd job. Likely the source of unusual professions at the taverns.
The independent contractors, in contrast, are professionals who travel because it is their job. As mentioned before, cartographers, geologists, researchers, archeologists, natural scientists. They are likely business- and profit-oriented, and are hired either for a single task or permanently. For example, if you were dealing with a jungle region and wanted to evaluate the high-value substances found in wildlife, you might consider going to the /nasfaqg/ main island to hire one or a group of botanists and zoologists. This might be attractive to K.A.G. since their adventurer teams could get expertise outside of their usual circle of knowledge.
Finally, there are the aspiring traders. In order to start trading on the NASFAQ Stock Exchange, one must gather enough money to be admitted - the so-called "starting funds". For some, it comes easier, in the form of inheriting enough (which I'd imagine is somewhat looked down upon, if you haven't worked for it), acting as an individual merchant, or taking over a business and running it successfully. However, some people would seek fortune elsewhere. They are treasure-hunters, artifact-seekers, dealmakers, sometimes with extraordinarily bright futures, and while hiring one is extremely unlikely since if they are both acting alone and trying to earn the "starting funds" for themselves they likely treasure independence more than anything. However, running into one or a team lead by one on adventures might happen. Some of them might be future plutocrats in the making. Epoch has started his career in this way, for example.

Then, you have the company-bound adventurers. They are similar to independent contractors, but they likely send entire teams on their own, so while K.A.G. could hire them they have their squads and philosophy of operations. If K.A.G. were to be interested in cooperating with one of them, me or Nasfaqronie could probably come up with an idea and MO for a custom one. Tripoint has technically two: Remgaph Legacy Mining, who do large-scale exploration and archaeological excavation and the Ka-Ti Institute which mostly supplies individual adventurers and experts or small groups of them.

Can you tell me more about K.A.G. adventurers or direct to a doc that has the information?
