For the most part, the main food crops will be reasonably cold-hardy crops like rye, oat, barley and potato, with the warmer parts also capable of supporting wheat. Nah, we are *civilised*. The Holy Mountain's actually a pretty good reference in terms of mainstream (relatively speaking) when it comes to occult stuff. It also kind of touches on the idea of ego-death so that is a nice bonus. It probably helps that Alejandro Jodorowsky himself is both an occultist and also get high on acid while shooting (it is basically his style), so it is a good way to glimpse into how altered consciousness interact with metaphysical concepts without actually having to do it yourself. Also, check out the documentary on his Dune adaptation if you have too much free time. It is WILD.

The Shining and Midsommar aren’t comparable in any way. Aster and Kubrick share almost no similarities as directors and their buildups are completely different; Aster relies far more on symbolism than Kubrick does. I’m unfortunately a big Kubrickfag; 2001 is my favorite movie of all time and The Shining is also fairly high on my list but you can’t compare the latter to Midsommar whatsoever. Midsommar really isn’t a YASS QUEEN movie because she spends the whole movie getting shit on and finds acceptance in the cult whereas YASS QUEEN to me is when female characters just… do shit with little or no obstacles in their way but are praised for doing nothing anyways.
