Pomu didn't have breast cancer. We don't actually have any official word on why she had surgery or what that surgery was, except that it was preventative in nature.
However, given all details we do know, it's a good chance that Pomu's surgery was a double mastectomy, in reaction to testing positive for the "you're like, 70% likely to develop breast cancer in the future" gene.
