couldn't tell you how often they do it as I too am a holo refugee seeking shelter in the small corpos but the ones I checked out don't seem to collab that much

Prism: badly managed japanese corporation. Stuck in permissions hell, like all Japanese corporations. The only talents that caught my interest were:
Non-Anon -- often does crazy stuff, like a Crazy Frog endurance stream.
Sara Nagare -- Like a much better version of Sana that's actually watchable.
Luto -- Kind of a cute Gura type
Shiki -- Zoomer personality, fairly charismatic

Tsunderia: the oldest English corporation. Has gone through some recent drama with a massive shakeup in their management and half the older talents leaving, including their most popular girl Miori Celesta. Tsunderia is mixed-gender though. Although they only have 2 boys, one of whom is a flaming homosexual. The ones that caught my eye:
Amiya -- Boomer spider who plays retro-games. Extremely worth watching if you want to see games from before the year 2000.
Lisa -- The zoomer sheep who loves music, and does music-reaction streams and other unique content.

Aetheria: The remnants of what used to be Cyberlive. Unfortunately Alchemilla Menace graduated, who was probably their most interesting person. The ones that caught my eye:
Chapipi -- Does good singing. Hispanic girl who likes cartoons.
Emma -- Super comfy streams, great for zoning out.

Phase Connect: By far the most popular and most successful small corporation. Picked up Lumi and Yuri when Cyberlive collapsed. Also debuted a new generation arguable better than the Hololive and Nijisanji debuts. Used to be on the same level as the other corpos, but has succeeded rapidly due to great management, and Pippa. The ones that caught my eye:
Pippa -- The yab-rabbit, or yabbit. Constantly saying controversial things. Heavily appeals to the Kiwifarms audience. /pol/acks love her.
Uruka -- Comfy violin streams.
Tenma -- Japanese people like her.
Erina -- Like Kronii but better.
Panko -- Cute and charismatic
Shiina -- model is extremely contraversial for obvious reasons. She's great at singing, and drawing.

Kawaii: Filled with GFE streamers. Probably the best if you want GFE. Their top girl Nene Amano has huge boobs and slutty ASMR, although I don't like her trading Japanese and English.

Kawaii is your best bet for that old Holo feel. Thier new Gen 3 girls that just came out are pretty great, in a few months once the 3D and the live comes out we'll see how far they go.

Hololive is the least whorish vtuber company.
That is one of the major reasons Holos beat all other female vtubers.
JP branch is the only safe bet. But watch out for honorary Nijis like Rushia, Coco, Towa, Matsuri, Laplus. Go for kanata, polka etc

The only two real alternatives are Phase and Kawaii and they happen to be really good parallels to Niji and Holo respectively.
Kawaii is like Holo around gen 4 debut, not many male interactions if at all, promising talents and idol oriented. I recommend the pegasus girl and the cat girl.
And Phase would be a lot like NijiEN pre Luxiem. Not idols, edgier humor and variety. Male interaction is not taboo, but it is rare. From here you should checkout probably everyone. You will probably hate some but love others, and who these are depends on your taste

The other corpos are varying flavors of NGMI, but there are good talents in them if you want to dive.

Phase has the most "holo" feel and even a few streamer of similar target audience.
Kawaii has Nene who is prime GFE. Prism has nice girls altough I find them lacking. And tsunderia has the spider girl and basically that's all it's appeal.

phase connect has Lia! that makes it the best company because I love her!

Phase Connect has a Lumi. She puts butter in her coffee.

JP has many more people and many more things going on than EN does so it’s much easier to ignore non Holo stuff.
They also don’t have anyone that collabs with Stars on a weekly basis and Stars JP has distinguished themselves as a completely separate entity.
The same can’t be said for EN where the EN Stars have had more Holo collabs than JP Stars so they’re much more closely related to the Holo brand than Stars.
