Older ships would be hazardous to use in a modern line of battle context because

While it is true that ships of the line had long lives, outdated and older ships of the line are simply just for other roles. You wouldn't want a 50 year old ship facing a 10 year old one because of naval tech advancements. Frigates suffer from the same issue. Simply put, this is what happens when an out of date ship faces a modern ship in line of battle (Pic somewhat related.)

My recommendation. Do not worry about line combat. You can have your own special battle with modern frigates on both sides that will show your navy off properly and will be more fun for you personally. Do you really want to write about two sides slugging it out for two hours in a line or a daring Frigate fight upclose and personal? Modern Frigates for Retro Reich. That's my judgement.

the first point i would say is only half true since we do take care to maintain and mod stuff so we could partly rebuild ships to have them more "up to date" when it comes to protection and beign well build

well the second one really is jsut an issue of putting new armarents on them, you can exchange cannons ect

Do you want my honest opinion on the first two points. I will be blunt here.
>1. Sure you can rebuild them but the designs are outdated, that's the problem. A total rebuild would be required for most ships

Ships are designed to carry a certain cannon on it and unless you are talking about something like a swivel gun, you will need to rebuild the ship to mount the new guns because they have different weights, sizes and everything. Naval warfare is so much different that landwarfare, where you can easily replace your artillery with new ones while at the sea, it requires new ships or rebuilds.
Frigate concept would be the most fun for you and make the most sense for your nation.

I doubt they would be significant except screaming sixties in the south, since unlike Earth we have significant landmasses in high-latitude southern hemisphere. No, Its picking your fights. I will actually phrase this differently. Phase wont send its big ships out when the Eastern Fleet is in the area. Ships of the line dont chase frigates. Other frigates do.

Im telling you to leave your big ships at home because you just wont need them honestly. 2434 has that covered in spades. As for self defense, your ships of the line will do will with your Chuubanite at home along with Coastal Artillery. Phase also will be bottled up in their ports though according to lore they manage to organize their fleet to slug it out with the eastern fleet at one point. Lets write about a badass frigate captain taking on a smaller Ship of the Line and capturing it. That would be a huge moment for you nation, sort of like what USS Constitution means to my nation IRL. You would probably keep that frigate forever like we have with old ironsides. And this is possible! Have a Phase captain get cocky with his 4th rate.

so, reading over what i missed, i can't escape the feeling that, no matter how explicitly i contradict a misconception, and no matter how baseless that misconception was to begin with, people will still constantly misunderstand me no matter what i do. i tried to address the idea that i was just bringing up the oldfag stuff by bringing up instances where i was the newfag of the situation, and if i recall correctly, the only time i ever mentioned creativity was when i was explicitly contradicting the idea that oldfags were more creative, or more generally better than newfags in any inherent way. i said they were more merited, and i went further to explain that what i meant by merit was an emergent property, and a natural result of being early.
i said, repeatedly, in what i believed to be clear language, that there is a merit in being early to something. people kept saying i said all newfags are parasites when i said equity and victimhood (these virtues which i was afraid were being used against oldfags without any counterbalance) were the virtues of parasites, thieves, and slaves. i never said newfags, let alone all newfags, let alone the newfags here (or really, even any specific newfag, since this was a mindset being applied to potential newfags in the future who didn't even exist) were parasites, thieves, or slaves, just that the virtues i mentioned were the virtues of those groups.
people keep implying that i want people to actively give oldfags privileges, when rights are not things that can be given, or taken away. only "corrected" arbitrarily. while there are some who understood what i was saying more, the people who are pushing that interpretation never seem to take what they, or likely i, say to heart. it's rather disheartening and somewhat discouraging, especially after i apparently lost any good will i established because of one mistake, which is why i didn't respond to some of those accusations as much as i would have done otherwise, but for anyone who didn't get it by now even after all that i have already said, that wasn't what i was saying. i thought when i went to sleep yesterday that it was resolved since i saw a few people understood what i was saying.

ty for the suggestions, but i don't feel comfortable using greentexts like that unless i am quoting someone, i do use numbered points, though, maybe i should try to remember to put them on their own line, but that feels weird when one is massive, and the other is a couple of words. i usually do think about what i am saying before i post, sometimes rewriting it multiple times until it fits my standard (which can be a problem when i think i wrote something, only to realize that it was deleted in one of the edits) but it takes some degree of communication to figure out what kind of language other people are able to understand. for me, when i wrote about new/oldfags, it seemed perfectly natural until people pointed out that it was easily mistakable based on their understanding of the words. then i started rewording things until now, where i could probably summarize the idea with the word "canon", hence why i use it more.
if it weren't for others, i wouldn't know how it could be interpreted besides the way i was imagining it. with that said, i sometimes worry that it will sometimes be viewed as me shifting the goalpost. there are many instances where i change my mind on things, even on more important aspects of some of my ideas, and i usually acknowledge that when it happens, but there are many instances where my intentions were consistent from the beginning, and the only change was how i communicated myself. i don't know if it matters, but i don't want people to view me as disingenuous, especially since the only thing i have that can reliably communicate what i am saying is the literal meaning of the words i use, which requires people to ignore whatever tone they interpret from me and take what i say at face value. if i lose that degree of trust, i don't think i can communicate at all, pretty much. it's a problem i've had for a very long time irl so i doubt it could be addressed here all that well, but hopefully it would help to post it here. i feel guilty putting my baggage on this thread though. idk what else to do so please forgive me if this causes anything.

Same, I'm not a big fan of the hyper fixation on destruction you see in a lot of more casual robot fighting fans. Really weird suggestion, feel free to ignore entirely, but maybe the sudden change in Rosebuta behavior could be the result of virulent memetic ideas being tested on Rosebutas. In this case the people at Vötzmich, and at the Special Warfare Overcommando, agree that using Rosebutas to test how certain weaponized ideas could work in the wild is a pretty decent idea, as its far away from the Kaisereich, so if the idea turns out too dangerous or "too effective" it won't kickback on them.

In this case the idea is a set of concepts related to nationalism and producing a warlike culture.

To create a sot of series of events

The map does look nice, and I did say I assumed he just grabbed IRL names again. It just looks weird as hell to someone who actually understand Japanese since, as I said, Japanese locales are named after local landmarks and no attention was paid to that here in plopping down the names. In HOI4 water tiles are functional. It can be selected and modified, such as weather, mines, and platforms.
We just need to import that onto EU4.
As for things like troops and development, that can be ignored. We can handwave the complexity by making underwater societies an estate type, but their influence is and modifiers affect the water tiles you control.
