I don't know the strength of its eruption, so I'm using Yellowstone as an assumption for a comparable impact. I could definitely see the effects of Mt. Mori's eruption being evidence of a battle between Amiia and Wo'sun in the Ame land's religions.

How big are Palkyries again? And it really depends on how long their tails would be and how articulate they are. So it depends on the purpose of their tails in the first place. Palkyries being smol means that a shield like that will cover proportionally more of their body and make them even harder to hit effectively by baseline humans, since most melee weapons IRL are meant to target upper body and sometimes thighs. That said, the main benefit of this would be allowing the Palkyries to use both hands for weapon while still having shield for protection

By the time the Eastern states were brought into the fold of the fledging state, almost all registered smelteries were of the improved type, with water powered box bellows and hammers. While the more laborious process of bloomery dominated the East, the availability of Limestone in the region and high amount of impurities necessitated the development of blast furnaces. To maintain the higher temperature of the furnace, other than the introduction of bigger bellows, the use of chuubanite which increases the temperature of the air blasts was also introduced in the bigger smelteries alongside some early attempts at making metallic bellows. Both of which are noted to be significantly earlier than the more modern attempts at increasing the quality and quantity of the metal industry. As you would notice, both parts of the land use box type bellows. Carpenters in the Eastern border with the UUUing Forest were an important provider of excellent bellows, which produces a higher air pressure than the leather bellows commonly used in homes and smelteries of other contemporary nations. *For a detailed account for the bellows-making trade in the region, Waldrek's book Lungs of Fire is an excellent work on this subject. However, as the war intensified, many smelteries were cut off from the supplies they relied. To satisfy the demand for iron, changes were made both on a wider, state level and local level.

Although the bloomeries were more than enough to meet local demand, the need for more arms and armor pressured the authorities in the East to build new blast furnaces, which, while consuming more charcoal, allowed for bigger batches to be made at a given time. The ironworkers were also more unified by a state organized guild system which had not existed in the East, where a more personal system of apprenticeship was the norm. The ironmasters and officials of the West faced a different predicament. The coke relaxed the demand for charcoal and allowed iron with lower carbon content to be produced. I think armored tail looks nice! However, I feel shields might be more practical in this regard since while parrying gauntlets exist, a shield should be able to cover more area of the body than it. The idea of attaching a parrying dagger at the end of the tail's still intriguing tho. I think shields are also better at absorbing kinetic energy than armor which can be handy when the Palkyrie has to take the blow
Only tangentially related but the tail armor idea makes me think of Palkyrie armor designed to enhance its utility. Maybe Palkyrie armors designed for more ambush-oriented purposes will have something like construction worker's safety harness with the tail sleeve connecting to a hook that the tail can attach and detach onto something like a tree branch? Most adults probably are too heavy to actually hang on trees by their tail alone, but a harness like this should help distribute the load and allow them to hang long enough to (literally) get the drop on their target below

Well maybe. Although I wasn't very active recently I guess I'm guilty to a degree, even though I do try to give feedback to the NijiAnons and New anons when I have any. Sometimes it's hard to interact when you aren't familiar with other's lore. When there have been more active participants than ever keeping up can be a hard thing to do. Well, with complete, blunt honesty, the main thing is that /2434/ has set itself up to be one of the stronger factions with many vassals, a huge overseas colony, and one of the biggest navies, and now that nijimale is active it has effectively immediately absorbed it as an ally, merging their naval militaries and trade activities even though they're two separate threads. I thought about it with the "parrying dagger on tail" idea, but since I intend Palkyries to use polearm (something bardiche-like) more often than not, having the 3rd arm also be used for attacks might be a bit too excessive? Especially when their small frame probably makes them squishier than humans but maybe that's just me. As for the tail hook, I think Palkyrie hunters/warriors will be trained to position their tail to not get it cut/caught, but the risk of it still getting caught due to the hook might just be something they learn to live with (Palkie's design does have a twisted tail…)

Hmm you know I think having the shield in the hand makes a lot more sense. After all, you want your shield to be in front of you most of the time. In real combat, you do most of your attacks while also holding up your shield at the same time, to be protected from counter attacks, so having it in your hand would be a bit more easy for that. Plus, having it in your hand lets you have something like a tower shield offering more protection instead of the buckler. Your right hand weapon would be your main weapon, but your off-tail weapon could be used to exploit a feint executed by your main weapon, or catch your enemy where he's not expecting it, because he's focused on your hands.
I think probably, you would see multiple fighting styles arise, some with large shield held in the left hand + an off-tail light weapon, and others with the tail buckler!

Maybe but there might be some difficulties when you try to use the bardiche as a monopod. For that purpose maybe the end of the pole there's an extension that sort of grips the gun when you deeply the bardiche as support. Though it do mean more metal and the forging process is a lot more complicated. Having the inner side be edged might also weaken the weapon structurally. Though not every weapon are the same. Mass produced weapons would be different from custom ordered ones that fit a predetermined purpose. Multiple forms of a same weapon can exist.

I like your way of writing lore, as if they were excerpts from some in-universe books. Gives a nice additional layer o the lore written, and makes it feel a bit more immersive. Especially so if you manage to fake a certain style of writing for different in-universe authors. I've got one in mind myself for nasfaqg, but I dont know how to begin writing about him. All I have is a name, Ernest Heiminway, and he would indeed be a heimin living in the Serene Republic, who has made his small fortune through writing.

Unfortunately I don't know much about metalworking so I cant give feedback on the described methods. I do like the idea of chuubanite furnaces and have thought of using something similar in nasfaqg too.

The reach might be a bit of an issue, but polearms and tail weapons help with that, since oppossum tails are kinda long compared to their body. Bardiches are definitely based, combination polearms are a fucking classic for a reason. My personal favorite is the poleaxe, but they're all lovely.

You would also have to consider how the weapon is forged. Having an edge means you would have to remove/darw out the metal. A bardiche head is kind of shaped and has the thickness in some parts like an axe. If you have the whole inside be edged then the think parts would need to be hammered into shape as well. Even if it's doable sometimes the cost outweighs the very circumstantial benefits a design feature gives. Though I'm not an expert in polearms so there might be some examples of bardiche with an edged inside.

That's two of the reasons I picked polearms in the first place! I like the aesthetic a lot (and since Palkyries are smol people now, I guess they'll need monopod for normal guns too), and reach's probably quite vital when fighting either big monsters or humans I also like pole dancing more than I probably should
As for tail weapon, if we use the same proportion as Virginia opossums, it would be something like 2' long so pretty close to an average human arm, but the tail comes from behind so that might make the practical reach shorter outside turning tails at the enemy during attacks

Yeah I saw some too. Only the tip is edged. Due to how heavy and relatively uncontrollable a bardiche is I don't imagine you would be doing much pulling/drawing cuts using the inner edge. So having the whole thing edged top to bottom might be a bit of a meaningless endeavor which also complicates things as you would need to do extra maintenance to the edge because it's also probably where you would parry your opponent's weapon. Not to mention it's harder to stabilise your weapon since you would have to mind the edge while shooting.
