All that happens in my experience is that a portion of the audio gets muted, but I doubt that’s likely to happen on the scenario you’re describing. Of course, I say that but who really knows. I think both these people are clearly super talented and probably deserve a spot, but I can understand why they may not have made it. I think they may have misjudged exactly what holo was looking for.

Remember, Ina mentioned that she just talked about food during her audition, and there seems to be a trend of "big production video" auditions making it to interview only to be canned. It's very likely that they actually care about a non-scripted stream that can still show your talents, more than a high production vid. The read I get on it from watching a lot of failed auditions/the successful ones talking about theirs is that they want in-the-moment-charisma and engagement on stream, since that's going to be a majority of their content.

You guys are just seeing these audition tapes and just focusing on the PRODUCTION side, which yes they make them stand out, but also need to look into what is making them unique and stand out:
The guy is a music producer, is bilingual, can play a bunch of instruments, and is a singer, hell he would probably make more sense as making him a male Vsinger but that would probably flop.
The girl is an OPERA singer, she also makes art, animation, videogames, and is already a streamer.
The difference between those two is the experience they have with streaming, the guy has no other videos on his channel so he is likely not a streamer, while the girl DOES so she has an even bigger chance of making it through.
The whole point of audition tapes now is to show what makes you unique, what you have to offer that could benefit the company. Being an "entretaining 1view streamer" is sadly NOT gonna cut it, because there are 1000s of people applying that are JUST like you and doing the exact same video as you. These videos help them stand out and get a better chance.

I agree entirely on the streaming experience level. That's why I was suggesting that streaming charisma/engagement is probably the largest thing they care about outside of a personality that meshes well and works with others. A lot of the more modern Hololive/Stars were streamers before, so I think that experience matters the most here, more so than unique talents.

I do agree that "entertaining 1view" probably isn't getting in if that's all they got going for them, but I think for example, someone who's been streaming for 3 years successfully and can do half of the things as those two have a better shot.

Really I think anyone who wants in should apply everytime, but I think the winning combo is a proven streamer who also has bizarre artistic or niche talents, but is extremely friendly and engaging on stream. They also have to be the type to abnormally thrive during interviews, but probably not be "so big" that Cover worries about their commitment to give up their previous endeavors fully.

tl;dr the best candidate is likely an indie VTuber with a couple hundred views per stream who has been doing it for over a year, and has some unique quirks/skills and is simultaneously passionate but professional, basically Vesper.

I think that is his talent, he has extremely engaging storytelling ability, a great voice, and clearly was able to fill a niche that holo didn't previously have. He probably was extremely humble, passionate, and earnest in the interview stage, which I'm sure holopro appreciated. When I started vtubing I set out with a goal in mind of joining hololive, but as I've streamed I've been able to see that what I really want isn't hololive level game but just a small place on the internet to call my own. I don't think I could deal with so many eyes on me, management and things like collabs... And what I've come to enjoy most about streams is the interaction with chat and the connections you can make. I want to get bigger still, but I think a lot of us here set out with the goal of joining a corporation because that's the most visible success story, but I reckon a lot of us will change our minds somewhere down the road.

I can see that, but the gameplay isn't really too much different from Elden Ring even with several mechanics missing. Elden Ring is like a fondue made of all of the mechanics that DS2 (power stancing), DS3 (weapon arts and FP) and Sekiro (stealth and jumping) added to the foundation that DS1 laid, and then thrown into a blender with Breath of the Wild.
I think the biggest change you'll notice coming from Elden Ring is that you can't riposte attacks by using a heavy attack after blocking in any of the three games; they added that in Elden Ring.

I seriously wonder what made the corpro chuubas stand out so much as to get picked. Which is not to say I think they're all boring or shit, I'm doing this because they inspired me after all, but I still wonder what edge some of them had over everyone else applying. Were they well rounded enough? Did the fit a niche they were looking to fill? Was it voice alone? JP ability? Is it even just one thing?

I spent a very long period of my life not talking much at all and my ability to converse about nothing without a prompt is pretty lacking. However, I feel like my commentary and game talk can match at least some of them as far as energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge goes. I think I'm pretty well versed in my chosen genres and hope vidya competency can carry me just a little bit. I'm also doing my JP reps, and I want to not only sing sappy torch ballads and love songs but write my own lyrics and create originals so am working on that as well. In the past I did some work for a technical school making online lessons, including recording video lessons, and the supervisors of the project said I had a soft and pleasant to listen to voice. I just need more practice using it.

The YouTube (or ticktock or face book) algorithm is really fucking weird but it legit can just blow up and make you almost famous out of nowhere if you are lucky.
