I kinda started imagining this in a more standard non-shippy guild setting for something bittersweet. Imagine Axel getting close to the first iteration of Magni he met and becoming really close friends with him. There comes a time where he kinda fucks up as a tank and that version of Magni dies. His guilt of not being able to save him weighs on him for a while, only to find out that another clone takes the place of the Magni he lost. Ever the optimist, he convinces himself it's the same old Magni with his old memories intact but he will never be THAT Magni. He makes more fun memories with him and all's good for a while. Then, it happens again and again and again and he keeps hanging on but somewhere deep within him he can never truly save him. Pretty rough concept at the moment, gonna iron it out. Tag: Mindbreak (but slow damage over time)

I can't stop thinking about how Magni said he wanted to be a doctor once upon a time. That would be so interesting lorewise, like he used to be a town doctors apprentice, finding happiness in helping others, but along the way his intention twisted and he ends up becoming an unhinged alchemist who cares for nothing but his research and going as far as to self mutilate to give himself extra limbs for convenience, but in current day the TEMPUS bros are kind of reminding him why he once wanted to save people through their adventures and friendship.

I absolutely love it. I like playing with the clone idea but I enjoy this one to another level. It adds more layers to him, showing how even though he's outwardly antagonistic, he actually might be more loyal or sentimental than initially thought, directly conflicting with the notion that he's the most likely to betray the guild. That selfishness of his made it so he couldn't let go of his former comrades even after death. Also kinda cute since since his ending screen implies he takes pretty good care of them. Definitely going on the fact that Axel is just a big ol' sweetheart of a bro. Thinking about how a guy like him would tackle a dilemma like this is fascinating. I feel like he'll have periods where he's going to be a bit more emotionally detached, maybe playing with the fact that the clones are essentially disposable and doing some hee hee hahas, only to fall back to his sheer instinct and feelings when Magni's in actual grave danger. I actually realize this is a bit of an alternative take to the soul transfer decision Magni has for former guildmate hands but with Axel facing that dilemma instead. If I could tie the hands back to the lore, it would probably just be his former guildmates testing the waters if Axel can be trusted with the real Magni after all those cycles of death and rebirth? I'm gonna assume the sentience those hands have can potentially lead into them being in charge of preparing the next clone body. Even after death, Magni's old guildmates are also watching him. That kind of story beat.

My headcannon is that they're all different types of immortals that formed a "Hero" guild out of boredom.
Magni is of course an alchemist with a philosopher's stone, and may or may not be a homunculus.
Vesper became a vampire so that he could continue his pursuit of knowledge indefinitely.
Altare is a Demon and as such was always immortal, but started larping as a human for fun.
Axel is some kind of beastman, though I don't really have any lore for why he would be immortal, but for the sake of the lore I'll imagine that beastmen just don't age or succumb to disease.

i think leader would be the person who wouldn't want to go back to the real world? he does have implied "asian kid in an asian family" pressure on his back and he's probably sick of that kind of burden and he finds joy hanging out with his guildmates more
though it would feel like he has some sort of like reflex or some "callbacks" to his mother being critical of him when he makes a mistake and it plagues his mind and beats himself up over it, and probably in the first iteration of the loop, he was a very inexperienced adventurer that made mistakes but each iteration he became better and more competent enough to be a guild leader but there would be mistakes that would send him back to the previous save state. usually people who undergo this type of loop tend to grow apathetic, he became more and more attached and made sure he is with his guild members (as he seen quite bad endings or death flags of the other members, or even his own) he decided to train at things that he is bad at or pick up things that he usually isn't good at which made the leader who he is today because he is competent and capable (from all the things he went through) although his demon lord self is probably a side effect to bottling up his grief and feeling of helplessness in a situation he can't control and had to reroll

Catching up on the Apex VOD from last night. I literally had to turn off the stream when Altare read, out loud, "it means get raped" in Japanese. Literally what the fuck was he thinking putting "get fucked" in Google translate? Did he genuinely think that would end well?
It's a fun collab but there's so many moments Altare is making me cringe into oblivion.

To be fair, the tone was supposed to be more disciplinary than aggressive, but it would probably still end with him letting you go and being secretly embarrassed he couldn't restrain himself.
There was also supposed to be a blindfold and soft but tight ropes and some saliva exchange (by letting it drop into your open mouth while you're still blindfolded) to lightly charm (You) so that you won't misbehave in the future.

The watashi/anata thing wasn't even a problem. Constantly using 私は at the start of your sentences just makes you sound a like a gaijin. And using あなたa lot isn't nearly as rude as chat was making it out to be. That stuff was no problem.
The fucking 犯されるpart tho.... That's literally "private the VOD" worthy...
I appreciate leader making an effort to communicate but he is way too reckless sometimes.
