In recent weeks and months the level of toxicity and aggression present in this community has become painful to watch.

Where once anons expressed a genuine love and enthusiasm for Phase Connect, the majority of posts here now seem dominated by people upset that headcanons aren't delivered, certain collabs are(not) happening or even disagreements over a fictional characters politics.

In particular as this month has reached its end I've noticed that the level of vitriol directed at each other in these threads is reaching genuinely toxic levels. I'm not sure why it's gotten worse, but I suspect as Phase Connect continues to grow in popularity and vtubing becomes increasingly mainstream in the West that we've become less of a closed community and more exposed to arguments and disagreements.

And while there are absolutely some valid criticisms, I also think what many are lacking is a sense of perspective.

I've been a long time lurker here, started watching Phase Connect weekly before around September 2021, and have been a daily watcher since December.

I've seen Phase Connect grow up, and it's easily my favorite vtubing agency. It's also not without its flaws, but if there's one thing I've learned it's that Fishman plays the long game. Every addition to the company has had its haters, or people complaining that things aren't they way used to be. But more often than not Fishman has steered the ship in the correct direction.

So I suppose all I'm saying is, let's all try to be more respectful to each other, be patient and ultimately take lessons from the company we all love: acceptance, peace and camaraderie between friends.

If you're serious, it's because for some reason it was one of the few shows licensed to national TV stations. Latin America didn't see a split between anime and western cartoons and treated them both as foreign animatino for kids decided to go with whatever was cheapest at the time - and because Japan was eager to spread outward they had cheaper licensing fees than more traditional western shows.

There was also significantly less censorship or "adaptation" needed for Latin American audiences compared to North America so less changes meant cheaper production costs. Hell, I even remember seeing Ranma with full frontal nudity when I visited my cousins in Mexico.

And despite (or in spite of) the memes, the dubbed voice actors are universally beloved down there and they're even referred to as 'saiyayins' outside of the context of Dragon Ball. There's loads of instances where English dubs speak in an "anime voice" that puts people off of dubs in the west while in Spanish the VA's don't give a fuck and will just use their own mannerisms and speech patterns giving it a more authentic feel.

TLDR: it was cheap.
