Genuinely curious. In my mind, there's constant rotation of fans that watch vtubers for around 2 years then get disappointed and move on.

Little over 2 years in, no interest in stopping now, oshi still great.

>> No.31523199

Coming up on two years. I’m pretty burnt out and only watch one vtuber. The homos are probably going to be the last straw for me.

I've been watching since AI in late 2016 but I never engage too closely, usually just catch clips/compilations and read up on the wiki for new gens/lore as they come.

I only watch HololiveJP nowaday, still cheering for EN. I heard there are new guys tempus but they not really stand out so I got bored after 1 week and unsubbed them. There are too many chuubas and I no longer care about them except people I actually like.

>> No.31532837

Started in late 2019, for quite some time I used to watch lots of vtubers, Hololive, Niji, even some indies; nowadays I only watch my oshi and a few concerts from other chuubas.

I'd been watching Holos since 2018 but didn't really devote a lot of time to them, rather they weren't as important to me vs anime/games for example, until early 2020 when lockdowns gave me a lot of extra time. Generally I still watch more JP than EN but that's partially due to the time zones on my part, PST but I'm usually off work late so sometimes there aren't a lot of streams going, and I just don't watch Bae and only sometimes feel like Irys so it's still JPs for late-night.

My actual favorite thing was watching holoJPs until morning during lockdown (during which I was work from home and ultra flexible for over a year) but I can't really do that anymore.

Started watching JP holo a long time ago, then eventually branched out to NIJISANJI. Hanna Macchia was the last thing I watched before getting disgusted with vtubers and leaving for 2- 3 years.

After the break, I came back to watch the new holo myth, got bored and pursued indies. After watching Pippa for a while, I'm considering leaving.

I'm positive it's a cycle

Been watching vtubers since a friend linked me kizuner back in Dec 2016, started to prefer Kaguya Luna, then I started getting recommended Holo and Niji videos in 2019. I mostly watch Holos these days along with some Nijis, small corpos and indies. I rarely watch facecam streamers anymore.

Same here. Became aware of vtubers through Kizuna Ai's fuck you stream and later Fubuki's meme videos, but only started watching regularly in mid 2020 because of Pekora and Korone, who were all the rage back then.

The first couple of months were a great experience since it was all new, but soon fter I started jumping from chuuba to chuuba and eventually burned out on it. I have watched only a handful of streams within the last 12 months or so and can barely be arsed to even watch clips.

>> No.31557557

I've been following chuubas for a couple of years before vstreamers became a thing and dominated the subculture. The quality of the community surrounding it was slowly going down long before HoloEN happened. I don't even know if the "oldguard" (god this term is so gay) still exists in some form or if they just moved on after the endless amount of vtuber related controversies they've witnessed for the entirety of 2018/2019. There was a time when vtubing was just riddled with promotional videos and mobile game shilling. It was so fucking bad that I wouldn't be surprised if most people tapped out from the scene.

no it's a westerner thing, those that live in the west don't get as emotionally attached as those from asia, western vtubers are actually more entertaining to westerners than any asian vtuber, appart from the weirdo's and schizo's on this board anyone will tell you the same

A fair bit yeah, but not super-fluently. Some Holos are easy to watch (Aqua for example, at least when she streamed..) and others talk too fast / use weird lingo like Marine.

As it so happens, most of the dialogue in your average stream is not actually that complicated or different from an EN stream - describing shit they're doing in the game. Zatsudans are the toughest and yeah this is also what makes Marine tougher because that is a lot of her content.
