Absolutely nothing wrong with going with the straightforward answer for something like this, especially since "Elysian" sounds pretty nice and cool as an adjective. You could try looking up the names of peoples from fiction, especially ones similar to Elysium and see what they came up with. Maybe you can do something with the sounds "quad", "tetra", "quattro" which relate to four of something. I find the best ideas just kind of strike you out of nowhere and you can't really force them though.

Sounds fun. Those are chuubanite glyphs? Could make it as simple as "glyphs this strong kill 99% of people" or something like that. Or maybe the glyph has to match the person in a very specific way that is impossible to predict, otherwise it doesn't work.

glyphs are separate from tattoos. glyphs are the symbols themselves, there is nothing about glyphs that is inherently tied to people, and there is absolutely no reason it would kill people or be impossible to predict unless it was specifically designed to do that, given the fact that the advantage of a glyph is it's ability to be programed.

Yeah there should be a process IMO. Like using some method to infuse someone with chuubanite before the glyph is applied. I don't want to reference other media too much but maybe like the trial of grasses in the Witcher. There's always a chance of failure and it needs a lot of preparation, like how real vtubing would be.

>> No.31326683

>>31326165
it's more related to forcibly creating, and then strengthening a concept in the conceptual realm that represents a chuuba that doesn't necessarily exist. it's in some ways the reverse of transubstantiation, where instead of having a concept substantiate something physical, it's something physical that is substantiating a concept.
>>31326400
yes. you could also have a personification of a table that looks like a human if you want, but their concept has to ultimately be that of a table.

>> No.31327073

>>31326683
Ah, I see. Then perhaps instead of being deadly to people, the process could generally just be challenging for the concept. Basically, if you tried to /asp/otheose a table, the Heavenly Realm would "push back" against this new concept, and erode it. If the table's conceptual power was insufficient, its table-ness would be destroyed. For physical objects, that could translate to the object becoming amorphous. Maybe something whose concept is singing would lose the ability to make sounds.
And if the entity's concept is strong enough, it is able to enforce its concept into the Heavenly Realm and /asp/otheose?

spagettification is the proper term for how it works. looks like you haven't read the previous stuff on chuubanite, but it also looks like you accidentally stumbled on the answer we have been using for a while despite that fact. by strengthening a concept, i mean making it more closely tied to whatever it means. in the conceptual realm, ideas are broken down into their base parts, but it cannot be reformed unless the thing going through it is defined to be itself. if something with the concept of singing, as well as something else were put through the conceptual realm, it would be torn apart and disassociated. if the concept was pure, such that whatever it was returning with was part of it's definition, it would be fine. you need to find a way to tie some aspect of a concept with it's definition, and for that, artificial concepts are needed, which can take the variable of the loosely defined and give it a firmer definition that can survive that environment. to form a glyph, you need to meet a variety of criteria, many of which can be compared to machine learning. at least one criteria would probably be that it has to be done during a time of chaos in the conceptual realm so that things are unstable and therefore can be modified, but everything else is like that. read my stuff on scale or scope for more detail on what can be communicated through chuubanite to and from the conceptual realm. btw, i am a bit tired. just wanted to say incase i am saying something stupid.

Funnily enough, animals living in the arctic tend to be fattier than others, since fat makes for nice thermal insulation. Well, if they get to eat sufficiently, but if you have a carnivorous diet it's possible to get enough calories to put on weight if you're a good hunter. Well-fed polar bears can get pretty chonky.

Oh, yes! If I recall correctly, inuits have genes that results in less LDL cholesterol being produced (that's the type that tends to cause cardiovascular issues). Only tangentially related, but inuits also have adaptations where they tend to grow brown fat instead of white fat more than other populations. Brown fat can burn glucose to generate heat and is denser than white fat, so it's extra useful in cold conditions.

>Inuit diets are high in fat but they usually don't get the issues you get from a high-fat diet
It's more about the energy consumption than just fat diet iirc. The thing is, inuits get almost 3/4 of their daily energy intake from fat, so little actually gets stored as, well, fat fat. The problems only really happen when you exceed what your body would naturally burn off and keep on consuming fatty foods. That's why diabetes and obesity are actually becoming a problem with inuit population now that they are modernizing and more foods, specially fast foods, are available to them.

The idea of getting all their technology from other threads also gives them a hard upper ceiling they can+t breakwithout the help of other nations, which just doesn't sit right with me desu. Still, it's up to touristbud in the end.

Indeed, that's why there are a lot of fad diets for menopaused women to "convert white into brown fat" (they don't really work well kek).
Brown fat is a small proportion of body fat though, so I'm not certain how big a visual difference is plausible, but that's something to play with.

And that's why we are here, to bounce off ideas!

And to further expand(sorry if it seems I am giving you a hard time on this btw, spec bio is kinda my shtick) on the claws, beside the lack of three extra fingers, you would also be contending with a lack of joints in them. So it wouldn't really be just two fingers, it would be two fingers, but you can't bend them. Try it in real life and see if you can do anything kek. That's why I said I doubt you could achieve any technological advancement without at least some rudimentary "hands", if nothing more than just multiple sets of smaller claws that would be more dexterous.

Uhh geologyAnon if you are here what do you think the type of iron ore in /who/'s IOCG and VMS deposits would be? And what about coal? Would there be any coal and iron deposits that intersect or are relatively close to each other? I spent some time watching an ore deposit 101 guide but since I don't know the specifics of how the Rrat mountains \formed I'm not sure what the characteristics of the iron ore produced would be. Would they be relatively free of phosphorus? The close availability of high quality iron ore would change the metallurgical history of /who/ quite a lot. Or should I ignore it and have a couple of big mines with relatively high purity iron ore just for shits and giggles?

The rrat mountains formation is discussed in the tectonic rentry.

>The eastern boundary of the plate is a convergent one between a continental and a continental plate. The Major Holo Plate is being subducted under the Council plate, leading to the formation of massive orogens on the Eastern parts of the Council Plate, as well as the formation of basins on both sides of the orogens.
So, the council plate and the major holo plate are pushing against each other, causing folding and breaking of the crust. Where subduction happens, its the major holo plate subducting under the council plate and lifting up the council plate.

The closest real world equivalent is the himalayas, I think.

Glad to have you back Crustacean friend!
One interesting thing that comes from this, the idea of being "the last chumbud" could probably be a pretty dangerous meme. It could lead to a radical sect of Chumbuds who deliberately try to kill off all other chumbuds so they could force a scenario where they'd be the last chumbud, which would be something really interesting to write about.

Just my thoughts though. I'm not going to back seat someone else's writing. I'm sure you have your own direction you'll want to take Atlantis' lore.

/who/ is still quite big. Would the deposits formed in the West by leaching from the Eastern deposits be relatively free of things like phosphorus? Would the resulting VMT type deposits be a little easier to work with? And although I need to look into this more but are apatite-iron oxide type deposits possible to be formed in /who/? The video I watched said that IOCGs vary quite a bit in terms of quality. Even if the general quality is poor industry would probably still pop up in places where they are more readily exploited.

I dig it! I really like how rich the land is in lakes and rivers which makes it stand out a lot, but as the others have said that's a lot of settlements. It might be a good rule of thumb to only really name the 'capital' of the provinces, maybe another if there's anything of particular note in the other town/city.
Did you manually craft the islands/coasts? They look really good. I kinda want to make a map similar to this in the future when my place has been more... civilized. Oh, and another thing which is more a personal pet peeve of mine, the borders on Benthem and Clingeland are both very smooth.

Well, i will be honest. The ocean names can be fixed as was brought up, and how long did we spend on them? Plenty of time for better names was avaliable and not used. If it is ok, i could share some ideas
An idea that came to my mind that would mostly be flavour would be for ina chuubanite to appear as a color that is incomprehensible, as a nod to the eldritch joke as well as the early color joke.
Maybe people who have not been accustomed to ina chuubanite will endure headaches and hear whispering in its presence.
Perhaps it has a side effect where it makes people really relaxed.

Not all chuubanite uses have to be useful, you can use it for flavour too and that is my personal favourite way to use it.

Okay some clear up.
/meat/ chuubanite's power is NOT stealth. It is acceleration of biological processes.
From constructive ones like mending wounds, building muscle, speeding up gestation, to destructive ones like cell death, mental entropy, cancer growth.
- Long term exposure to natural radiation has given the natives better health and biological potential. Training soldiers would be faster as muscles develop quicker and acclimating is made easier.
-The spy network is not chuubanite affiliated. It's religious. So religious followers in foreign nations wouldn't have to rely on /meat/ chuubanite for everything outside of medical purpose.
-/meat/ chuubanite's use in espionage has mostly been used for speeding up natural processes like reflex and regeneration
- As for our Catalognauts, my vision for them is that they mostly employ them to manipulate their bodies by accelerating certain processes to an extreme that regular people cant achieve. Think Parasyte and Splicers from Bioshock.
Turning regular flesh into extremely malleable clay that would make HeLa cells look normal in comparison.
Increasing blood production and composition and pulling a Deadman Wonderland blood bomb. Or just suck a man's body dry of blood and fluids.
Lost an arm? Accelerate stem cell production to regrow it. But this comes at a risk since that would also accelerate cancer composition. The newly grown arm wouldnt be a perfect replica but one full of tumors and hypertumors.
The specifics themselves are also determined by the patron deity you chose to transubstantiate as/primarily worship.
Xohildr and the priestess in https://rentry.org/longpork#by-strange-lights transubstantiated as Comma, to create meat vines with cutaneous thorns.

Also made me realize that there still that island to the south that's kinda just unclaimed now. Wonder if it'll just be sunk or if it should be left uncolonized.

In general for chuubanite, try to think of a concept that unifies it's various effects. Such as [Grabbing] like a tentacle as an example, being used for the nets like you mentioned.

Personally I don't think a /meat/ cultist would try to hire V7 to help them, as /meat/ counterplay is rarely about beating the opponents in their own games. Odds are /meat/ cult's counter to someone hiring V7 against the cult would be to figure out a way to make said employer fall from grace one way or another, so that others in the power structure will doubt that person's attempt to cleanse the /meat/ cult (say, making it seem that the cleansing operation is an attempt to grab power by themselves).

quantum invisibility based on light-bending, or camouflage would work best. pheromones that would be able to induce a cognitive effect would require contact with the ones who are being influenced. quantum invisibility is the best kind of invisibility, but camouflage is both balanced, and easier to replicate. the octopus is the best real-world example of this. speaking of which.

there are certain frequencies of light, sound, and other such senses that are difficult for our senses to interpret. the description of hastur's face is one of the more descriptive aspects of the lovecraft mythos, so basically just have it rapidly change how it can be experienced between a variety of those difficult to interpret senses. just color might not do much, but you can have it naturally emit a sort of low-frequency sound that follows the same principle, etc. that kind of noise can induce both relaxation in the listener, and the kind of anxiety that produces headaches, so you can definitely get what you want in the effect. octopuses, as well as lovecraftian stuff in general, are full of interesting abilities for you to choose from, so figure out 1) what your thread represents to you and 2) what you might need in terms of abilities to properly reflect it.

/meat/ espionage strategy is parasitism
They put fundies and other devout cultist in key positions that would allow their activities to go unnoticed.
Think Stalin and the Secretary General
If a cultist gets to become a courtier, they will appoint more followers into high places.
When there's a raid? The navy will be assigned elsewhere
Promote investment in a town that is prime for attacks
Or plant cultists as ship captains to traffic people to /meat/ mainland
And most important of all, assign people in the military and navy. So they can do all they can to avoid a war. Any proposal to declare a war will be lauded at.
The thing is that people couldnt even tell if theyre cultist at first. /meat/ culture has always been about integrity and honor. Varangians hired by infidels would still risk their lives to save their different faith allies. Even if there are cultists in your court, they won't betray you and start a civil war. All they would do is prioritizing /meat/ in any activities.
If it's trade, a cultist diplomat would try to find a way to get a /meat/ merchant or their allies into this. If your trade deal suspiciously has many Kronie and Meathead shares that's a sign.
Traffickers will not dare get VIPs on board the trap ships/caravans. Mostly the caravans that have gone missing carried prisoners both civil and political.
The cultist general drilling your army is zealous and disciplined because he just vented his extreme 'kill the gods' mentality into hating your own enemy (and their chuuba). Aka if you train your division of heathens hard enough they'll just kill more heathens.
And the towns that are constantly raided? They were originally small developing fishing towns until a cultist baron and other cultist merchants invested into it. Literally grooming a town into becoming a cattle to be slaughtered. Even post-raid they would use their own money to repair and rejuvenate it.
Theyre doing diplomatic ryona. Like how you trust a ryona partner to push a pin into your genitals, you can trust them and they wont stab you in the back. But what they will do is very painful.

>I dont think a single thread should be allowed to monopolize an entire branch of possible ideas.
you misunderstand, 1) "an entire branch of possibilities" was never going to be monopolized. you are afraid that a single ability might be monopolies. specifically, a single set of abilities. more specifically than that, a single set of natural abilities that would be produced passively instead of requiring activator substances and glyphs to alter. there was never any way to fully monopolize an ability. 2) i just want to encourage more diversity. it's all well and good if everyone achieves their unique goals in tways that are unique to their threads, but if everyone had the same specific ability just because they liked how another person did it, and there was no counter-force to get them to want to actually make something unique for themselves, it would encourage people to not bother figuring out the system and tapping into it's true potential, while also reducing the uniqueness of those who do put in the time and take the risk to make their own unique magic abilities. i want to encourage diversity and variety, and to populate the system with interesting things. you can't achieve that if everyone does the same thing. it's boring, it's lazy, i think we advise against it wherever possible.

there are many concepts associated with plants, there are many concepts associated with growth, there are many concepts associated with acceleration. if none of those concepts represent your thread culture enough to base your chuubanite around, and especially if the concept most strongly associated with your thread culture is already in use, you can use it too. just please try to be more creative. otherwise our magic system will turn into one of those personality tests with a dozen or so totally unique personalities that literally everyone falls into to one degree or another.
