I think this route is more a band-aid to addressing the confidence and anxiety she's having. Her fans are all pretty wholesome and I wish that some of that positivity would rub off on her or help block out all the other noise and toxicity.

Outside of VTubing I don't think she's surrounded by people who bring her up, but that's only an inference based on a few short observations. Unfortunately it has happened always. Lumi and Yuri had the same thing then they both stopped spending time in VC. I remeber people like Beebz, Deftly, Boss, Charmander, Wenham, etc all used to hang out often in VC playing golf or something.

Vera used to have a super tight knit community that has basically ceased to exist because Vera stopped going to VC. I know a bunch of that group seems to have split up between Mara and Miia's discords.

At the end of the day a lot of people join VC for the streamer. While a core group can survive for awhile eventually it dies because new people don't want to join unless the streamer is there.

Yeah there may be some channel growth reasons for going full ASMR. It paid off big-time for Kyou. There are so many ways paths she could take so I don't blame her for trying, but I think she has the wrong idea about streaming vs pre-made content for games. Content doesn't have to be funny all the time. We're all there for her after all. The people who actually care about her at least are.

The ASMR scene on twitch is extremely cut throat and competitive. Even most of the major ASMR streamers also do a lot of non ASMR streams. Some people will show up even if they don't care for ASMR for the streamer, but i don't know if funny random youtube videos is the same thing.

I don't think it's the toxicity of playing dota, I think she's just having more fun playing dota with her close friends than streaming or talking to her audience, so she's gonna do it less. Which is fine but I can still be sad about it, and it's also going to affect her later down the line when she gets less viewers because people start to move on
