The fascinating thing about defamation in Japan is that, unlike in most civilized countries, you can get sued for it even if what you said is 100% true. For example, if your boss is cheating on his wife and you tell someone in the press about it, even if it is completely true, he could sue you and win for defamation if it was in Japan. Companies can do that as well. It's baffling.
