I'm pretty sure the HoloEN audience as a whole is, while maybe not on par with JP punch for punch, much closer to them than the CCV indicates. Which is worthless for the horse-betting that a lot of people here come for, and that's fair, but it's useful for people who want to really look at it from a business-minded eye.

If you are providing design sheets for all the major characters that's a lot of work, then sometimes you might be asked for art for the OP/EP, endcards, ads, promotional items, etc. Also it's not a one time thing, concept artists usually have an ongoing commitment since sometimes designs just don't work for animation: too complicated, too hard to draw, and they might add new characters or combine them and need new sheets, sometimes they do concept storyboards etc. It's interesting Ina has actually done some animation which is apparently very valuable since she understands illustration and animation are very different. I think that being an idol and being an vtuber and idol are totally different - idols don't have daily multi-hours programs where they intereact with their audience - idol publc apperances are crafted to paint idols in best light. Vtubers can't prepare scripts for every single stream they prepare, so Kiara shows part of her that are not for everyones liking

Kiara's the type who is really into 3D Idols, and tends to stick by the "Purist" definition. And by that definition, Vtubers categorically can't be idols. No one who isn't a young girl doing performances while going through school to climb up the traditional ladder can be an idol under that, really.
The Loose definition, where you're looking at Alt-Idols and the like, is a lot looser, it's in the name. And if you expand to that, then yeah, Cover's got an idol unit going on here.
She's just stubborn about being an idol purist. Some kinda /jp/ otaku tendencies that are deep-rooted. But Cover clearly works on the loose definition.

You don't even understand Aqua to begin with, she has always wanted to be an idol, go watch her fucking debut stream. Aqua and Gura is pretty similar in that they will gladly throw numbers out for their dream, and that part is what some people found endearing. CCV =/= popularity, you should've known from seeing the sub race between Marine and Pekora to 2M. Just because we use CCV for horserace /here/ doesn't mean it's the holy grail for Vtubers.
