The voting for anthems will be held soon, so get those last-minute suggestions in!

Chants will continue to be accepted for longer and I'll give a deadline on that as we get closer to the vtl itself. If you guys have suggestions for other aspects of our team then be sure to let me know, but it will be harder to accommodate larger changes for players at this time, so please keep that in mind.

We are also accepting stadium billboard ads at this time, so if you have a neat idea or a creation you want to submit yourself, just send it my way. Please note that your ads need to be in a 512x96 ratio.

/who/
The Owl Republic is a democratic, unicameral presidential republic located in the North West of the Holo Continent. Its loosely organized worship of Owls contrasts with the centralization of the government, which gave way to the enlightenment beliefs which continue to fuel the country's march for progress. Birthed in the fires of almost a hundred years of incessant war and sieges against the Schizos, a mix of paranoia and cautious optimism influences both its officials and citizens. The culture which came out of the Founding War also focuses on national service and security, conscription and the network of fortresses are a part of life in the Republic. Though it is also the War which gave the citizens a unified identity, civil Wars and rebellions are rare in the Republic.

From the teachings of its figure of Worship, the Nameless One, the Owl Republic prides itself as a beacon of knowledge and progress. With archivists and scholars spearheading it. The blessed soil makes it the food basket of much of the Western Continent. And its industry and export are only rivaled by a few in the world. The Hoomans loathe any forces that attempt to alter their way of life, though they aren't complete isolationists. Their style of diplomacy is characterised by prudent observation and probing, followed by non-interventionist means. They are the watchful guardians of civilization and keepers of knowledge.

Can confirm, man needs to chill out a bit. Though it does make sense in /risu/'s context, they only just got out of relative isolation a while ago so it does make sense that they would make official visits to other countries.

>>30878530
I might revise it later after all the history and politics is done. But I tried to make a super general overview of what /who/ in universe is like. ~250 - 300 words is the sweet spot in my mind. And a lot of the lore probably should be partially rewritten after you are done with the history. Like the RID, it should be altered to either be younger in the overall history or have a longer line of evolution.

>conscription and the network of fortresses are a part of life in the Republic
Thought this would be enough.

The Kingdom of Lusitania, the Organic Kingdom. A “Society of Artisans” that promotes decentralization, guild economics and distributism. Formed from the Fabersi tribes in 746 but not coming into its true form until 957, when after a 20 year civil war and interregnum, the Organic Kingdom as we know it came into existence. The Kingdom is a place where every man is to be respected and treated well by all, but where each man also has is part of the “Corpus” of the state. You would be hard pressed to fine better crafted goods of all types than those that come from Lusitanian Artisans, and it is without doubt that Lusitania has one of the most advanced and one of the highest quality metalworking industries in the world. Lusitania has adopted a policy of armed neutrality, protectionism and the limitation of trade; yet all visitors and strangers to the Kingdom must be our moral code be treated like family. Quality over Quantity is the motto of the armed forces, who rely on their advanced weaponry, and unit tactics to keep all threats at bay, including the hostile Caliphate of its southern neighbors. In a world where the strong eat the weak, where entangling relationships cause wars, and where morality is lost for the sake of profit; Lusitania stands as a shining light in the Alivirian Sea. Her secrets protected, her borders fortified and her people strong; a bright future awaits the Organic Kingdom.

I also saw something about us having the best metalworking industry in the world, and I just want to say i never once claimed this but we are certainly amongst the best and it would be hard to match our techniques. Quality over Quantity is our approach, and while you are welcome to come to Lusitania, do not expect us to give a shit about your affairs unless a situation of Just War arises and even then we will not cooperate with any power.

Since rentry on mobile is awful and doesn't let me copy the text let me just answer through here!!!!

>I don't understand the last part of this sentence, from "being constantly..." onward. Could be just me being an ESL, but could you explain it a bit more?
Sure!!! Since Selenium is basically an autocratic dictatorship, it means that the state is being to control less and less of the population!!!! I hope that helped!!!

>So what was it? Internal peace and time of development or a time of chaos for religious factions?
Fixed!!! I meant to say it was politically turbulent!!!!

>Could probably reword this line a bit, something like "The soul of a warrior that sacrificed himself for a greater cause he could never comprehend has an infinitely larger value compared to a soul of a person living a monotonous, self-consuming life."
I understand what you wanted to do but that was not quite what I was looking for!!! A warrior that sacrifices himself gives his life to the materialistic world and transcends to a greater realm!!! The realm of Being!!! So that wouldn't fit that much!!!
For the last section, tyty for the advice!!!! I'll take it to heart!!! But no war chant!!!!

The reaction would be slow, as it doesn't seem like anyone escaped. First, the people expecting the convoy at /vnug/ would have to realize the convoy is not coming, and then I imagine word of mouth of captured frigates would reach /vnug/, who would contact the Black Fleet. The first move of the Black Fleet would probably be to ask /vnug/ to open diplomatic channels with Tsushima instead of immediately throwing more resources at the problem.

Most of RU's capital ships should honestly be retired at this point and they are probably better off having a smaller navy. I would love to see a Kirov be preserved but sadly I don't think it would be very plausible unless the Chinese bought it or something.

not sure if this is a serious question, but i think how a culture deals with marriage is an interesting question that deserves a serious answer. i'd have to talk with the rest of /meat/, but if i had to guess, /meat/ enjoys ryona in both a sexual way, and a religious way, so it would be a societal expectation for couples to engage in that kind of behavior with each other at least a fair amount of time, but besides that, i figure they would be fairly conservative with the institution for the most part. divorces would always have some connection to a betrayal of extreme proportions, at least in so far as how it is perceived, either in that it would be an extreme betrayal, or it would be in response to an extreme betrayal.
other /meat/heads should correct me if they think they have a better system. i am basing it off my interpretation of akira, her former husband, gomi, and all her relationships that fell through due to her bpd and trust issues. plus, i kind of like the yandere interpretation of /meat/ relationships. sounds kind of kino to me, desu.

Whatever is required for this war to have the outcome you want, basically. I'm flexible. The Black Fleet will send an amount of boat that will give the Prince a good battle, lose, and then if the attacks will not stop, the trade agreement with /vnug/ will be broken off, or a reasonable tribute will be figured out (<10% of goods value probably).

>> No.30891536

I am an outsider but the way I see it, the Black Fleet and Vnug need to make a deal with Tsunehisa, probably tribute or something if they want that trade to continue. Okay, then I think a tribute could easily be agreed to. It would lower the profitability of the route, but it's a strategic resource import so it would be worth it. If Tsushima is open to a tribute, the Black Fleet wouldn't send a punitive expedition. Deadbeats are individually prideful, but the Black Fleet is very meritocratic, if they read the incident report for that battle they'd probably say the officers in charge deserved to lose. Plus "I scared the great Black Fleet into paying tribute to me!" is pretty good PR.

Hey PG! Sorry. was busy writing
>>30888083
Well it would be like what PG said. Ryona would become a household tradition.
Not in the 'beat your wife senseless is acceptable' kind of way, more of a 'wife and husband shows affection with extreme means'. Think of... black comedy romance. Where both partners enjoy doing painful gruesome things together. Holding hands with bleeding palms, playfully licking your partner's wound when they cut themselves, or just joking around by whipping them in the back without realizing.
Under the condition it's not to the point of irreversible injury and with both partners enjoying it. even with regeneration magic you should know your limits. Snapping your partner's neck and killing them is still considered murder in both consensual and non cases. If they asked for it, you are desecrating the holy cycle by ending someone's life prematurely before they could experience life to the fullest. If non-consensual, thats just straight up murder.
Both partners having freedom to do ryona would also create some kind of a competitive household dynamic. Sure the dominant partner is the one wearing the pants, but the other partner gets do what they want with said pants. The serious local officer who axed felons without second thought would be hesitant to brand his wife during ryonaplay because he knows she wont bow to him and still tease him.
Just not sure about this part
>i am basing it off my interpretation of akira, her former husband, gomi, and all her relationships that fell through due to her bpd and trust issue
While we've seen many, thats a bit selective. On the other hand, /meat/ is also full of softies who enjoy the affectionate cuddle and headpats. After long hours session of choking, needles, and bruises nothing gets the heart pumping even more than a soft hug. Maybe that would also activate the innate /meat/ chuubanite in the body to start regeneration

Well aside from presenting the thraeds on /vt/ as fictional nations you are also building a world with living, breathing and most importantly thinking people inside. Trade is important for any society. Even if you don't interact with other threads in universe I'd say the scale still allows enough NPCs to have limited trade with /vnug/, on their own initiative as they want to capitalize on /vnug/'s market. And as a nation situated in a cold climate, it makes sense that they would have demands for some foreign goods. And some merchants trading along a pre established route might want to buy something from their destination and sell them to /vnug/ on their way back. Since they have extra cargo space, why not make some extra, and get some exotic goods from /vnug/ since so little people travel there? it dosen;t have to be a proper treaty, just write some lore about independent traders coming and what goods they sell or buy.

pine, spruce, birch, fir, larch, aspen

parts from reindeer, whales, and seals, maybe more depending on what monsters we can get in /vnug/

Join the horde of Mahjong geniuses/luckshitters in NASFAQ. I'd imagine it could go like either Akagi, Saki, or Koizumi depending on the level of supernatural Mahjong power we'll choose presented in this world. neither does /meat/, we just prefer sticking to the old ways where we can. /meat/ raiders are elite soldiers that could probably beat most opponents on the same playing field, but in the ocean, only the ship and it's crew matters. getting raiders on the opponent ship is a good way to make sure our advantages are felt with the greatest impact, plus we prefer taking our opponents alive, so sinking an enemy ship isn't ideal.

Oh, he can get into a bar fight in /nasfaqg/ easily, but that's for regular bars with some Mahjong players. The plutocrats are usually much more cordial, since they don't treat those losses personally - two companies at war with one another might have their leaders eating dinner together and sipping wine. /nasfaqg/ respects the abilities of individuals above everything else, so it is possible that the Prince would simply be invited one day.
What I was thinking is a team tournament arc with national-diplomacy level stakes and multiple people with genuine superpowers. /nasfaqg/ had multiple Mahjong tournaments already as a thread.

I'm actually pretty bad at telling people apart I don't know if we can have an exhaustive list, but something like that works!
I think you can extract the bug juice as more mundane medicine like the previous post said, but the most effective ones will have to come from a live bug, who will have to suck the juice from animals that are both dangerous and can't be tamed/domesticated, which necessitates having to both go hunt them regularly and to bring the bugs along them. If we go full monhun, the stronger effects might be what's needed to make hunting actually effective in harvesting whatever else we can get from the monsters (maybe their body parts can also be used back home to produce medicine that are not as good, but more affordable?)

where are you getting the inspiration for these fairies? aren't you making them just a bit too overpowered? are they actually supposed to exist in this setting or are they purely mythical creatures that don't actually exist anywhere but people's imaginations? are there really no feasibly exploitable weaknesses of these creatures? in the folklore, they were strong but they could be fucked with, you are essentially making them impervious to the machinations of anyone else. they can't even be deceived like they could be in folklore.

you said someone's wisdom, intelligence, or perception would be countered by their ability to mess with minds, implying they can artificially decrease wisdom, intelligence, or perception. they mess with minds through illusions, which can be seen through with wisdom, intelligence, and perception. whether or not their illusions are effective is determined by those stats, the illusions do not directly interfere with those stats beyond giving advantage or disadvantage, which is decided conditionally. they can't warp minds to force them to fall for an illusion, otherwise what's the point of the illusion? they can warp minds that are already susceptible to the illusion, though. don't mix the method with the effect, the illusion is what warps the mind, and the attributes are what determine the effectiveness of the illusion, someone who falls for an illusion would reasonably grow accustomed to the illusion after some time, but not if they recognize it's an illusion, and thus untrustworthy early on

balancing to me is that the more powerful something is, the more debilitating the weaknesses should be. if there is a special way to make them weak enough to deal with normally, it shouldn't be too difficult to do. also, all of it should be explained in the rules of the setting. what's preventing someone from just grabbing one and tearing it's limbs off? a curse? other fairies? how is the curse applied? can it be avoided, cured, or nullified? if their numbers were effectively dealt with, would they have any other tricks to watch out for?
it shouldn't be that it's just fatalistically predetermined that going against fairies at all will lead to failure, there has to be a method, and all methods and mediums have intrinsically attached to them weaknesses and strengths that determine where they are most applicable, and where they are most exploitable.
