I'll be fair, Ironmouse is good and deserves it, but there are many vtubers who got in early and skyrocketed by just being carried by covid+holoEN hype+twitch not being saturated with competition+vtubers as the new shiny thing. It is incredibly harder to rise up on to the twitch that it was back when the niche was new.
But this happens with any social or economical niche in a society, the first ones to get in win the prize, the rest have to slavishly grind for minimal improvements.

She went viral right before covid which was a perfect mix for western coomers - vtubing was so foreign at the time and despite people claiming that miko GTA got them into vtubing, melody had a far greater mass market impact. Melody is the only one who got articles written about her, people were legit confused about if she was 'real' or a scripted AI hentai bot or a prerecorded video (hoes mad bros glad etc).

Ironmouse, silver, zen, even bunny were the main friends circle that melody raided occasionally and played games with. A lot of vtubers probably have some kind of health thing but they keep it off stream or rarely mention it. Ironmouse, whether she meant to or not, got tons of savior points whenever she mentioned this and broke down from a big donation - you can't deny that this was huge in getting her noticed, but whether it was carefully calculated or just natural is up in the air. Was it just her being sick that put her ahead of others though?

"Talent" Freedom gets memed on but mousey actually has a lot of skills that kept people watching - singing for starters. The change of voice from her pipsqueak normal tone to her soul opera was an insane moment, just think back to Susan Boyle and how reality TV milked her 'gap moe' and how that spread like fire. Mousey was similar and that kept more people watching her than the other vshojo members. Her coño cussing and being puerto rican was the closest we got to some spicy latina vtuber (look at the fallout from that scarle iluna whoever who tweeted some spanish pre debut and got people so hyped but disappointed everyone after). People claim ironmouse can also out weeb 99% of /a/ so she wasn't a fake normie appealing to degens, she knew her shit and could talk about that stuff for hours.

basically the mix of hard work and luck. She was streaming since 2017 on a dead platform even before go to twitch. Back there she already talked about her condition because people keep asking her why she would stream only one hour or why she would vanish for weeks sometimes.
2020 hit, people got stuck inside their home and met vtubers. Like you or not mouse is a very entertaining person to watch, she will talk about random bullshit sometimes that will lead to "gold moments" like the infamous eye incident.
Also she stream almost everyday without fault, when she is not on you know something bad is going on, meanwhile you are lucky if some other chuubas stream once a week.
