Well, I start by not being SEA. Then I make a consistent effort not to get /pol/ brainrot. Having sex helps, but is not required.

The vtuber experience I seek is the same as watching an anime about a bunch of cute being cute all the time like Hidamari Sketch or K-on or something. It's all about just enjoying some cute shit. Fantasizing about dating or fucking them is also part of it, but so is understanding that it'll never happen.
JP Holos are the best at delivering this experience which is why they're so popular. EN Holos are not great for this, it seems like only Gura and Fauna really understand it.

I'd be lying if I said I never had a crush or fantasized about any of vtuber girls but I experienced it irl with girls/women as well so there's barely any difference. It's an involuntary thing which goes away with time and in the end fantasies rarely become a reality.
I watch certain vtubers because, for me personally, they're interesting as entertainers. It's mostly just Peko, Miko and Marine and then whatever is "on" if I need to pass time. I really don't understand how people can actually believe they'll end up with their oshi and start hating her if she interacts with males or has a bf. It is fun. Some of the girls I watch will go full fanservice for a few hours, and then subtilty make it clear when that mode is over. I couldn't imagine having an oshi who insists at all times she's your girlfirend and that she would never betray you.
