It really is effective. So many co-working services these days. Likewise shared office spaces for both independent workers and companies to work together as a form of encouraging people to work harder. The shared offices thing got its shit slapped by the pandemic though.
Hell, even just setting a loose flexi-schedule of things to do in the day can get most people out of the gutter and being productive.
Just list out everything you like, allocate 15 minute increments for the task depending on how difficult it is. Try to avoid going over an hour, but if it is a demanding task, go for it. (I tend to stop at 2 hours though, after 2 hours your brain goes to mush even on things you love)
Whether it is programming, gamedev, art, stitching, modelling, all fairly involved tasks, cleaning old tech, refurbishing furniture, whatever it is.
I told some friends to do this because they were always bored doing the same shit all the time and it helped most of them besides Mr Depression, still not sure how to help him... yeah. I will fix him. Seeing his talents go to waste saddens me immensely.
