More 4 AM debating, though I rally should have better hours for sleep. I think I've narrowed things down to something fairly traditional to more closely align with /qst/ sensibilities.

However, I am one for trying new things, but regardless of the intent it's going to have to be lighter than I would think I'd need. Chuubanite by itself is headache inducing (even if I am slowly getting a hold of it), while tech can be formalized under the "Whatever works items don't mean anything lmao" category.

Though I was looking at some odd JTRPGs, maybe I can fid something that accounts for what I'm looking for. There is an answer somewhere, so much little things to consider, not enough time to think about it between streaming. Sleep time.

As I'm here, how important is your culture when defining a person? I would assume its fundamental, but reading the bits and pieces there appears to be some diversity in character. Perhaps Ironclaw of all things is the place too look . . .

It isn't really anything rooted in thread culture (although the 1st alternate outfit is for summer activities that won't really be a thing otherwise in /vnug/), but I think it's a logical extension given the environment, and it kind of spiralled from there

The poll for selecting anthems will be held soon, so keep an eye out for that! And a big thank you to everyone for those lovely chant submissions. This gives me a lot of material to work with. As deadlines grow closer, more and more details are being finalized, so if you guys have any ideas or requests then be sure to shout them out and we'll do our best to accommodate the thread's preferences.

That will have a lot of variance. Many countries basically share a baseline "Human" that doesn't deviate from the international average that much. A bunch of the holo countries, most of the niji nations as well fit in that category. Here the culture might affect things like what sorts of skills an individual might have. Other countries deviate quite a lot from this standard on a physical level, such that it would probably be reflected in its stats. I'd say when defining a character, their culture is the most important thing to set, given the impact it can potentially have.
Can I help in any way with tech or chuubanite? I've been enjoying your little 4 AM updates.

we were based on vikings, aztecs, pirates, and huns. we have focused more on vikings and aztecs, but idk. the video was based on a famous mongol warrior that was seen as a force of nature, essentially, so the song described the rule of natural law, and how it overpowers the lesser rule of man, and since our philosophy is based on the life cycle, i figured that was fitting.

I assume that a d10/limited dicepool would be similar to WoD/CofD? I'd generally urge to go in that direction because of probability distribution autism. These kinds of systems also handle power disparities fairly well, unlike simpler single-dice/double-dice systems, where modifiers are king. I'd recommend generality rather than simplicity.

Since this thread is primarily focused on building nationalities and cultures, I'd say that it is quite defining. You could even split it into multiple parts to allow people to have more leeway when designing cross-thread characters or to have several characters from the same culture not feel too similar.

What do you feel about creating a research coalition between magic/esoteric focused nations like /meat/, /infinity/, and /risu/?
It's not an economic or militaristic alliance, but a joint research.
1. Each member is allowed to freely share their manpower across the coalition.
If /meat/ is researching something, we can invite mages, thaumatologists, scholars, from the coalition members.
And vice versa.
2. In return, every discovery made is state secret only shared amongst coalition members AND can only be shared through vote of confidence.
3. Vote of confidence; Even if a country is a member of the research coalition and contributed to the completion of breakthroughs and findings, a voting must be made should whether they get to use it. Just in case some members arent confident the knowledge will stay secret or misused.

Even if you do not want to be realistic, it is still a good idea to have actual numbers on this. Think of it this way, an enemy army invades your nation but you have no clue what their size is. This isn't a war simulator, its just makes things easier to understand.

If you two produce the same thing, then it might still be viable to trade if there's a difference in quality, price, or availability. Precisely because this is not a war simulator, numbers are not needed. What you actually need is the narrative strengths and weaknesses of invading forces. Do they have good discipline? Small numbers with low possibility of reinforcements? Are their officers overly traditional? Do they have good cavalry or unique units? These kinds of things matter much more than concrete numbers, because they shape the war and the engagements. I'm not saying that both sides should go in blind, just that concrete numbers are not needed.

I also should state that I'm generally against concrete numbers simply because after someone comes into the thread and sees those numbers, nothing is stopping them from one-upping the others. They sadly lead to an eternal escalation of those kinds of things, as usually is in realism, since you don't want for your nation to be weak, you want for them to be at least average... but due to how averages work, it always pushes everything further and further.

Concurring, even if I would like to give my in universe nation a set number in a given time frame, what matters most is the qualitative factors, the culture, organization, and hardware each nation's armed forces have. as for Panon what i meant was that i do not like the idea of restricting what new reps can declare for their nation in any way just because they do not want to deepdive into the subject or have lack of knowledge on. while i would be happier if not every nation simply states "yeah we also got one of the largest navies" i also do not want to take such an option away.

For infinity - I want Watamelon to attack our western porn on Risu, meaning it'd be on the far end, so it takes awhile for us to respond with a naval force. This is the introduction to our cavalry / ranger / rough rider unit stationed in Risu as well, as they will be the first to hold the line and not let Watamelon forces advance part the port. But the jihadists still capture the port itself and enslave Risuners and kill the Kronies there. The local navy and militia blockade it so that Watamelon can't escape with the slaves, but they're also not strong enough to take the fort even with the rangers helping.

Finally, our inquisitor navy officer arrives with a small fleet and after a gruelling battle, they scatter the terrorists and free the slaves. But the terrorists escape into the woodland / jungle, and it's clear they would be attacking the region repeatedly in the future and would be a long time problem.

How does this sound?

>fishing, cattle, horses, dyes, cotton, Rice, Yam, coffee, banana, mango, papaya, macadamia, avocado, sugarcane, maize, beans, black pepper, Umbuzeiro, ginger, peas, cucumbers, capsicum, mustard, carrots, tomatos, garlic Abiu, açaí, acerola, alligator-apple, apple, atemoya, bacaba, bacuri, biriba, blueberry, brazil plum, brazil nut, breadfruit, cajá, camu camu, cantaloupe, cashew, citrus (orange, lemon, lime, etc.), coconut, cupuaçu, fig, guava, grapes, jambo, jocote, kiwi, mangaba, mangosteen, mulberry, muruci, nectarine, passionfruit, patawa, peach, pear, pequi, persimmon, physalis, pineapple, pine nuts, plum, rambutan, raspberry, sapodilla, sapote, sorva, soursop, starfruit, strawberry, tucuma, walnut, and watermelon

i personally think this is a very soulless list of stuff just for the sake of nothing really, this tells me nothing about the nation at all, with such a list there is no way to say "oh yeah cool, this is the specialty of the nation and what they use as basis for their food." and honestly with such an extensive list it is even hard to consider what of that even is tradeable because no nation should be able to have so many varied goods on a level worth for trade, or even across its own nation available for people.

Consider what your navy's objectives are, and its naval history. Is it dominated by steam vessels or are you still in a phase where pure sailing vessels are slowly being replaced by newer ones? Or are you converting all the old sailing vessels to newer ones, so although your navy hasn't expanded in numbers, its quality in some areas had increased? Commodus log ch 1.

Ok, WHAT THE FUCK! These guys first off invade our land, chop down our beautiful trees, build a huge fort, and then start slaughtering us when we try to fight back. If it had not been for the fact that they took care of me after i lost my damn eye and told me their plan I would have been running for our allies to exterminate these guys. But I guess my fate in this world is not to do that and if I am to trust these guys then I guess they are here to help us.

It would have been nice if they could have told us this BEFORE building a big fort in our land but I guess they somehow fucked up in sending translators. And yet this dude calls himself a "professional". Maumigny seems like an earnest guy and he did say that the fort would not only define the border better but also scare away the terrorist assholes so I am willing to give him a chance. And heck it become ours after all the fighting is over so that's pretty cool.

I think the only logical explanation would be to have a long talk with Maumigny after he explains himself. I will demand the following questions be answered. He will have my cooperation if he can do this and provide some form of compensation to some of the families affected.

1. Why did you not send more translators that did their jobs correctly
2. Why did you not surrender and explain the situation BEFORE building a huge fucking fort
3. Even if you were being attacked, why the FUCK did you not just surrender and explain the situation and motive

I just don't know what to think. One side of me wants to be hopeful. I can rise the ranks of risuner society massively and we can end the terrorist slavers forever if this plan is real. But if it is not real then I am not only allowing the terrorists in here to enslave everyone but also a huge fuck off foreign army with cannons. I simply can not allow that possibility to happen.
After a whole night to think about this and some counseling from my friends back home I decided on this current course of action. First off and above all else I will evacuate ANY risuners living south of the fort to move north of them and establish the fort location to be the official national boundary. We will avoid any confusion and better define our borders as well as hopefully protecting the families in those villages. Next I will send some scouts over to all around the country and to our allies to be ready for impending invasion. If the fancy people want to move even an inch further into our territory I will have everyone on the ready to repel them back.

For now the plan is to befriend them and act as if I am on their side. I really am on their side but I'll be damned if I don't have a contingency plan. Send a few gifts and see how the relationship develops. As well as making sure those 3 questions get answered. Risu protect me for I am making the greatest decision of my life and it may lead to either a beautiful friendship or our countries downfall.

Jayawan logs ch.5

I WAS WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING! THIS PLACE IS ACTUALLY FUCKING AMAZING!
Ok so holy fucking shit it just seems that the port city was the area that did not have a lot of fun activities around, especially with us limiting ourselves to our own ships and a few local inns. The scouts told me of these areas specifically designed for the amusement of the people with strange metal contraptions that reminded them of kronie technology.

We went a bit further inland and encountered a few towns. They were a mix of nice and a few of them a bit racist but of course not everyone is perfect. In general the reception was a pretty positive. What shocked the rest of the crew is what the hoomans call "fairgrounds". They somehow make these giant metal waterfalls with things for you to sit in and it was so much fun! Suddenly the crew was very excited to be here.
They had all sorts of fun games and little huts where they had sweet food kind of like what the luknights had. We had so much fun that we even almost spent all our nuts on this one specific park that had a lot of delicious food. The guys there were really happy with us but I sadly had to put a stop to everyone's fun so we didn't bankrupt ourselves. Hamdani and Enoch would have been pissed if they found out we spent all our nuts on games.

Beside all the fun games they were things to do like what they call a theater. Some lady told me that the theater sucked but I said that surely it couldn't have been that bad. Well it wasn't bad but it took too damn long and most of the crew that came with me fell asleep. We were much more interested in their zoos. They have animals from all over the place even other nations including a big deadbeat one. They didn't have too much from us though but that is to be expected. The boss man asked us if we ever come back to bring an executor goose.
The hoomans also party it up in the streets sometimes, and in their bars they love to party but they fight a lot so we stayed away from there. I will admit that spending most of the time in the fun park was probably not the best use of time and research but GOD DAMMIT IT WAS FUN! I'll have to make sure the other two don't see this log or I am fucked. And not in the good way.

Last thing. Apparently the port city is just as cool with their festivals we just arrived right after they were done with one. So combination of bad timing and me being a nut brain. Oh well, at least we can "explore the culture" of the hoomans now and not be bored. I need to go learn how they make these water things. For research of course.

I was thinking less of a surrender and more along the lines of "hey hold up dont shoot us we arent the bad guys" I think surrender was a bad word there and Commodus was expecting you to just clarify your reasoning for being there before shit hit the fan. I do wonder why more diplomacy wasnt attempted at first because I did see people tried it but got fever. Indonesian names just pass through my head and I can't remember any of them except their current president because his name is funny.
Depends on you. Jayawan would be too focused on researching and scheming about his plans around a week after they arrived right? So have all the visits around that time after he started doing research during his free time. I guess he also requested the visits and itinerary to be spread out so the Risuners can explore as they please, as a pretense to do his own thing. The 3.5 is really just there to fill the hole. So quickly mention the things the deadbeat and I wrote would be enough. To have it make sense with the later chapter just make it so Jayawan personally was a little disinterested. Also the diplomatic party should reach the capital next and the East next before they go back to /risu/. I know you are juggling between almost half a dozen projects and sometimes things slip.

I could either say that each city does their own shit or if I really wanted to make the tribes and sections more unified then sure I guess there could be something like that. For now (especially since this is right before infinity did their shit) I will say that no such thing exists and your closest bet to that would probably be Panrong? Tech is still in the distinct category of "It just works" simply due to its nature. You want a sword, you're getting a sword. If you can justify a firearm, merry fuck-you, here's a gun.

Chuubanite is going to have to be keyword dependent. If you have the Chuubanite, you have the keyword. Though two questions on that front: Is Chuubanite "expendable" as in it burns out or no? Secondly, multiple Chuubanite sources at once?

I know Players and one little shit is going to want to be blinged out in Chuubanite to account for most situations (and get cancer I guess).

So, working from the chapter above, my first idea was this kind of: this first strike group comes in towards the /mep/ coast alongside watamelon territory to take stock of any shipbuilding facilities, harbors, and their assets, and falls into a trap because the Admiral is a retard. They retreat with heavy losses, and then there is a follow up campaign as the threat of the watamelon scourge has been demonstrated.
This Admiral's fleet's size:
2 ships of the line (Flagships of the two commanders)
4 frigates
3 corvettes

Our resident chuubanite autists can feel free to correct me if my understanding is wrong, but
>Is Chuubanite "expendable" as in it burns out or no?
It does, but it also slowly recharges over time as magic quanta in the surroundings rebond to the vitubium particles in the chuubanite.
>Secondly, multiple Chuubanite sources at once?
From the same piece of chuubanite? Probably not. But you could use multiple pieces at once, each with a different concept in mind and working in tandem.
>and get cancer I guess
It's not radioactive in that sense. Deadbeats are chock full of the stuff constantly after all.

>> No.30669825

>>30669051
>Is Chuubanite "expendable" as in it burns out or no?
Not well versed in chemistry or physics but it would probably depend on the type (so what bound with it and its affiliation) and how it used its energy. Say if you are using an iron chuubnaite without affiliation as a lamp then it would probably slowly dim out as it loses more of its stored magic quanta, eventually leaving just a useless lump of metal that needs to be replaced.
Then there's a type of gunpowder made with chuubanite which I wrote. It can create a bigger and faster boom but since you are creating an explosion, the intense heat causes the vitubium bound with the coal to separate, which means the unburnt material left in the chamber and barrel would have very chuubanite or vitubium left as it was turned into its base state and released it's energy.

I think for the context of an RPG campaign, there would be sources of chuubanite that are practically expendable, and others that practically aren't. The chuubanite in a /meat/ tattoo, in a reinforced weapon, or in a deadbeat's bones is not going to deplete fast enough to be a significant effect in a campaign that is less than months long. The chuubanite in a gun or a risu magic staff however, might deplete significantly over the course of a fight.
And yes, you can have multiple different chuubanites with you, though if you try to mix them they will prefer to separate, or have one take over the other.

"It Just Works" is often applied in the context of something that sorta-kinda doesn't function correctly, but people still roll with it.

Popularized by Todd Howard after he claimed the Creation Engine (Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout Games, etc) "Just Works." Even after numerous bugs, crashes, and other horrendous failures with the engine.

When I say "It Just Works" I mean in the context of it kind of doesn't, so it'll have to be a heavy set of workarounds to not address the core issue.

I'd be down to discussing and collaborating on rolling mechanics for a potential ttrpg. I have a bit (10+ years) of experience with them, plus fiddling with some completely customized mechanics in the past to make them fit into my settings.
Regarding Chuubanite, you can omit thinking about it too much when trying to come up with the basics. It mostly serves as justification for the supernatural elements of the setting. Setting up the precise ramifications for it can come after coming up with the initial system.
>>30669636
Alright! I was thinking if you'd want to have some aid from /nasfaqg/ (or, personally from Tripoint) because while no company would likely be willing to send any kind of an expeditionary force, some of the companies that'd experience frequent or semi-frequent raids along the Watamelon coastline would deem it more cost-effective to voluntarily provide aid to deal with the menace. This might mean resources, expertise, intelligence, or very specialized gear. Generally, just remember that these organizations don't work pro bono - Tripoint might slightly since it doesn't mind currying favour on Moriji - but others will only support it with cutting losses from piracy/terrorism in mind.

Yes, exactly. My thought is that /2434/ is much closer to the Watamelon mainland, so their exposure to them would have been more significant over history, while watamelon's efforts towards Moriji are a more recent development since we're so much farther, so to the Admirals they're still only another flavor of piracy-slinging barbarian. This campaign is going to be a "First Contact" kinda deal where we learn what a threat they are.

>also slowly recharges over time as magic quanta in the surroundings rebond to the vitubium particles in the chuubanite.
this process is extremely slow during normal times, probably taking longer than a human lifespan for the chuubanite to return to normal levels.
During events like rushia nuclear meltdown this can happen very fast though

And yes, chuubanite is expendable, and it is burned out in use, the rate ofc, depending on the use.

I don't think so, to be honest. I think the Panon schizos followed him from /nijiEN/, seems like a place that would breed this sort (no offense to nijifriends, I'm sure you see what I mean).
