The usurping a Vestige line? I absolutely adore the idea, rivalries between different noble houses should be rampant, with all of them trying to get as much power, political or otherwise, as possible.
While the royal family has the definitive upper hand over their opponents, the minor and major nobles of the pale nobility could and should be overthrown at any moment.(i compare them because out of the 4, they would be the ones to have actual nobility. Axelotls would have chiefs, yes, but that would amount to very little outside of their territory, and The Guild would just be commoner geeks that spend their entire day either in books or getting corrected. It got delayed because /mans/ changed their minds on where they wanted to be halfway through and everything else was being moved around to accommodate the old spot. Keep in mind that the world is ~1750s technologically when brainstorming lore. As for /zomg/, we haven't bothered removing it yet because we don't have anything to fill its spot. previous thread, at the very bottom, me and someone else were talking about the conditions that would have to be met to become a catalognaut. a few ideas were presented, one of which i think makes a lot of sense. you should read the whole conversation if you haven't, but basically, i asked what would happen to catalognauts if yabs caused chuubanite to be unstable, and he said maybe the distance between the conceptual and physical realms decreases a bit, allowing for one to more strongly influence the other and vice versa. this way, the conditions for both the creation of artificial glyphs, theoretical artificial activator substances, and catalognauts who artificially embody a concept would include this unstable period where the realms are more susceptible to being influenced.
actually, saying realm might imply the entire realm when it's actually just the part of the realm that is connected by the chuubanite and it's concept, hence why the status of one concept doesn't necessarily need to influence that of another, but if it is big enough it might. basically, you can't create an artificial concept, or connection unless there is some degree of instability. also, there were a few other conversations we were having that you should check out if you want. tell me what you think of them if you do.

For the past 3 months, we have been hit with storm after storm, as if the SEA itself is angry at us. We have been so far off course, that we are currently in uncharted waters. Our morale could not be lower than it is now. What is the meaning of all of this? Wha-

"Akitomo, I need your eyes for this one" said Tachibana with a excited voice

"You seem excited Tachibana, what is it now"

"Just come on to the deck and take a look"

I walked out onto the deck and my jaw dropped. I had to double take because I could not believe what I was seeing and no one else on the ship could either.

Before us on this island was a city made of Pure Gold.

I grabbed my binoculars and took a closer look. I was even more shocked than before when I inspected closer.

There were beautiful women everywhere, without any clothing on, urinating all of the time. What the fuck was this.

Tachibana remarked "It's quite odd, but this is clearly the City of Gold, helmsman take us closer and let us interact with these strange women in this strange city.

We drew closer, all still in shock. The women noticed us and waved happily at us. When we dropped anchor, nearly the entire crew jumped off the ship in a frenzy. Whether it was the gold, the women or the so called "Liquid Gold" we were all captured by it. This is where my mind goes blank because I have no idea what happened for the next month at all. As if it was just a fever dream.

All that I remember now is us being back at sea sometime later.

Fischer, was no where to be seen, I asked Tachibana where he was and he said "I have no recollection of what happened to Fischer." I personally believed that he stayed behind. What is certain is that we made off like bandits from this city, our ship was covered in Gold bars and jars of this strange liquid gold that had a sweet, flowery taste to it.

My mind cannot process what happened at the City of Gold till this day. Even after we returned to Tsingtao with our fortune, we couldn't even show the officials where this land even was on the map. For all I know, we were drugged by some alchemists or were hallucinating and that Mechaffyna itself gave us the gold. But we were all set for life now, with enough gold bars brought back that we could all retire in peace. It had been 3 years since we first left Tsingtao but it felt like 30. I hadn't seen my wife and children in forever, and the first thing I did when I got my share was I retired at the ripe age of 30 from the K.A.G. and returned home. Tachibana did as well, and we sometimes still exchange letters to this day. One day, I vow that the two of us will meet and consume the Liquid Gold together, for old times sake. Hah, that will be quite the time.

if you were originally a /meat/bud, do you think our generals should be more friendly with each other? maybe share a bit of culture? i asked before if comma transubstantiations would count as plant-based life, and even if you think we wouldn't have much trade since you already have it, you could still benefit from trade of things that you still have, see the wealth of nations. so maybe we could benefit from interacting more if you think it would work.

i say the qualification of being a catalognaut should increase your resume, but you should still be places where you are most needed, and able. we also have an existing example of a catalognaut. it is true that the government will likely monitor their interactions a bit more closely, and they will likely brief them in order to make sure they further the goals of our institutions and related establishments wherever they may be, but otherwise they could probably be allowed to go as they please for the most part. with that said, research would be a great opportunity for them. if they can literally access the catalog and essentially perceive the conceptual realm, that would do wonders for our esoteric research programs. plus they are basically walking chuubanite machines, that's useful for quite a bit.

Its complicated. For certain minerals ash is a great suppliment, but you have to grind it into the topsoil. You will need a source of nitrogen and iron fertilizer to mix with the ash. The other hazard /infinity/ would have from non-stop volcanic ash eruptions for hundreds of year is acid rain. If the ash didn't kill off the farmlands then the acid rains will. It seems like Kronies would have to live in a volcanic desert until the rains wash away enough of the ash for plants to grow back again. Even then most plants will be inedible weeds. /infinity/ could import other plants and crops to rebuild. It would be a miracle to find edible crop vegetables that survived the eruption. Yeah, of course, I think there's all sorts of cults all over the place, the /meat/ cults are just one flavor. I just think they can cohabit with whatever people put together without really getting in the way...
