I heard a really loud pop and I wasn't sure if the PSU had damaged the motherboard or not. Luckily, everything seems fine now and I took it as a sign to buy a new external. And HOLY SHIT did you know they sell like 16 TB drives now? You can get a WD 8 TB for about $170. A few years ago, you could get a 3 TB drive for that price.
