GFE, much like being "seiso", is a brand commitment. It will give you a boost in both superchats and viewerships, but it will also severely limit the things you can do, and then you can't go back to how things were.
It's very easy to say " who cares about the incels" but if you brand yourself as a retro vtuber and stop playing retro games your audience will be equally mad (and if you want someone to send you death threats. be a Minecraft streamer that starts using god mode)
If you get tired of the gig and then decided to do a boyfriend reveal you might get your own personal schizo, which is why burning your unicorns after your brand has been established is the most dangerous way out.
Ironically, this also happens to anyone that changes their niche as well, which is why that Niji had to fake his own death to get out. Crazy people do crazy things for crazy reasons.
Then there is the issue where other vtubers will attack you for doing GFE out of sheer crab bucketing. They will pressure you to collab with males ( "homobegging" as /hlg/ calls it) and to cut your "parasocial" audience disguising it as concern. This might end up isolating you from the group.

Therefore this is not something you should consider on a whim. Clearly analyze the pros and cons if you really want in. I would still recommend GFE if you want to practice your acting skills and you are willing to commit to a character for a long period of time. Being the "perfect girlfriend" can burn you out if you don't enjoy playing characters.
Your audience will be more forgiving of current boyfriends yabs via dox than you telling them you don't like whatever stupid thing they are really being nerds about like Bionicles or that your political views doesn't match exactly 99% of theirs. (Actually, the last one is pretty fucking dangerous in this business for anyone so it is better to skip politics altogether).

My brother in Christmas, I've been together with my wife for over a decade, and I still watch vtubers. The only distinction between someone in a fulfilling relationship and someone not in one is how receptive to intimate roleplay they are, so I don't give one rip roaring shit about GFE oriented content. I still watch female chuubas, just not through the lens of "potential mate" and instead through the other lenses of "just entertainment" and "watching them grow and achieve their goals."

Technically speaking there is nothing that stops you from doing singular "date streams" and no one will bat an eye.
Even Mori does them. The problem is if you brand yourself as a GFE then act non-GFE on Twitter or your discord.
You can do ASMR/ date streams/ GFE content and not be a GFE vtuber the same way playing a single retro game wont make you a retro vtuber. I would suggest trying these for a while to see if you really want to commit to the gig full time, and then if so take it to your next reincarnation. There is a /here/ vtuber that went corpo who did exactly this and now averages 400 viewers on her ASMR streams, even when her company is gone.
Most people shitting on her for this do not really understand how brand changing works.
Every character you play is independent from the other ones in the eyes of their audience, this is why Kson is not Coco no matter how hard you try to squint. Despite the usual insanity in these threads, some part of the human brain understands anime isn't real and behaves as such. This is something sometimes even the chuubas themselves forget.

I can only speak personally but while I don't think anybody I watch does outright GFE content, a good few do ASMR which can fill the same niche depending on circumstances. And in those instances I don't think less of them, but it is an absolute turn-off and I don't watch those streams. And I feel like it'd go both ways for people exclusively there for ASMR or in your case GFE. I couldn't tell you how extreme the split would be, it might just be me being a screeching autist against a sea of people that'd love it or it could be really divisive, but either way if you go that route you need to be prepared to deal with that split.

I'm kinda of two minds on karaoke, I don't like when it's treated as some huge event (unless it's just part of a larger one like a milestone/birthday/etc. celebration) but things like bloom's dedicated karaoke redeem which can just happen whenever, or koragi's short ("short") singing section at the end of streams are nice.
Actually speaking of koragi, she had a stream a week or two ago where she was playing some singstar type game and taking suggestions from the chat or just singing songs she liked. I liked that a lot more than a standard karaoke, I guess because it actually felt like karaoke and not like someone on the idol LARP under the guise of karaoke.

Generally there's a split between "I watch for the streamer" and "I watch the streamer for specific content" mindsets and while both are reasonable stances, indies generally have less wiggle room for the latter since the audiences are smaller and there's more of a tangible benefit for keeping higher numbers (Twitch partner). So Pekora can do whatever and still have her brand magnetism, fan loyalty, and the ability to shrug off a several thousand viewer drop for a stream to fall back on, an indie is really going to feel it when their 30-40 average stream gets cut in half because they play a debuff game or do a debuff activity their audience isn't there for. Mind you this isn't universal because people like Alker and Kongou exist, but there's a non-trivial amount of chuubas that see their view average as a way to determine how well they're doing, so a big enough dip can get the menhera going.

It can be. GFE is pretty nebulous in general because there's varying intensity levels and types of girlfriend. "Anime girl whispers I love you into your ear ASMR" is a pretty common type because it casts the largest net in vtuber fan circles, but you could also say a streamer who's entire setup is to be your female goth friend you had a crush on but never confessed to because you didn't want to ruin the friendship. Said chuuba could play that role perfectly, talking about horror movies while playing games and maybe dropping the occasional open ended flirt, and that would also be a type of GFE.

Apparently the VRM format's scuff has one surprise benefit, and is that it gives you the ability to ignore normals in the blendshapes. At first I needed this because Unity normal calculations went bonkers, but now I can use this for something else...
