Hotaru: a friend of dtto / Qu. Does vocal commissions. She has a firm grasp of singing techniques and performs her own variations in songs. Catch is that she unarchives live singing streams (which are more like practice streams with scuff). Some covers I liked:

It's not worth it even if they have a good singer because of all the drama you will get forced to go through because of the incompetent management and the toxic fan base.
There is more to it than just singing well on a technical level.
Emotions and likability play a big role, and those are negatively impacted by association if you have too much drama in the group.

With so many choice why take the risk of getting more drama?
I ignore vsingers from riot for this same reason because recycling the avatar of a previous vtuber is something unacceptable and using it as their poster girl is proof that they should be avoided.

Nothing in particular, but every vtuber associated with Hololive reminds me of this event and that they are at the mercy of the same suits.
That event had a strong negative impact on my life which made me question the need to be associated with time bombs, when you can make a conscious choice to chose healthier relations instead.
After that I decided not to support Hololive anymore until the suits who were responsible for all the failures took responsibility and were removed.

Support applies to more than money.
You are investing your precious time too when you watch a vtuber and create an emotional link with them.
It's of utmost importance to chose people who are healthy and not associated with negative people, or they will destroy your life.

Ok I'm back. I had previously used yt-dl but for some reason it was always slow for me. Turns out a fork of it, yt-dlp, seems to have all the features I could ever want. And it's much faster. I can download a 2 hour vod in 1 minute (>30mb/s) with 350mbps down. Yt-dlp has support for membership streams, unarchived streams, and catching up for late joiners. She's been around forever, as long as Fuji Aoi, and has been well integrated into the vsinger scene. Else, who's the 4th face in the photo, isn't that big numberwise either, but is clearly good friends with AZKi as well. She never took off the same way the others did because she didn't stream but instead posted only covers for a long time, while using TikTok to as her lower effort form of advertising. I think it was a result of her only using the 3D capture system in the studio for her streams so even when she did start to stream they were much less common except for her voice only radio show, MiMi midnight, where she'd invite guests. Her goofy old avatar also probably hurt her, since she didn't come across as the serious professional she is, but instead as someone doing it as a joke. I used to follow her more closely when she was doing her English pandering streams, and her current karaoke streams have a lot of talking between songs which makes them less good for playing casually for music's sake. I still have no clue why she dropped the English streams since she seemed to enjoy them and took her reps seriously enough that it clearly wasn't just trying to draw an audience, but maybe she didn't get many overseas contributions to her first crowd funding since it was a very Japanese focused site and thought it was better to focus her energy on the domestic audience. I still make sure to watch her Cat Street Lives since they're really well done, especially for a free show, since she fucking loves dancing as much as she does singing/song writing, and while it's not earth shattering numbers, her streams draw a pretty healthy audience. She's also had >600 members at one point based on how many emotes she has, though I'm sure a decent amount of those were gifted since I got one. which is pretty damn good.
