Drawing anime profiles is always sort of weird because you have to decide if you want to respect anatomy or just say fuck it. Gura especially is such a cute blob any definition in her nose and chin can look a little off. I think its fine, some of it is down to style

I know, which is why I usually don't really like drawing too stylized characters. I really have a hard time drawing anything I can't understand physically and a lot of stuff about anime artstyles is quite weird if you think about it that way. It's obviously a matter of style.
I kind of went out of my comfort zone by drawing more loli-type characters but I ended up drawing Gura in a way that's more enjoyable to me personally. Maybe it also just looks strange on its own. I honestly don't know.
Anyway, I'd rather not draw her at all if I have to choose between my drawing being unappealing to its target audience or just not having fun drawing it.

By the way, I don't think the "your style is too "muscular" for loli" point some people brought forward is true.
There are good loli artists who draw their characters with very pronounced physical features like benantoka or kuroboshi.

Your bodies are extremely angular which makes them look hard/muscular. Yes, you can draw lolis with pronounced features, but your artstyle in general is way too rigid. If your drawing cute girls, you’d want them to look soft. Literally just round some of the edges out and stop making their anatomy so defined. They end up looking like men with extremely low body fat. I think you have a nice unique artstyle, but it just doesn’t work with anime girls

I’ve been doing my anatomy reps lately and seeing improvements but faces and eyes are still a sticking point for me because anime faces make no fucking sense from an anatomy perspective. If you try to draw say Gura in a different style its very hard since if you take away her hair there’s only a few key things that define her face. I was doing some ID sketches a while back and they especially have very distinctive eyes. Especially Anya she’s just not Anya without those goofy eyes. I’m going to do a 100 faces set to see if things improve

I'm curious, why are the other drawfags here? I'm a newb and needed sketch ideas, and I now the pain of never finding the specific art I liked so I enjoy filling requests. Doing art for others, even for free, also forces me to be a little more refined than if I'm just going to delete it as practice.

I'm not here for criticism per se but I don't mind it, I've gotten some good insights. It always hurts the ego a little but I feel like if you've been doing any learning/reps at all, your understanding of your limits grows 10x faster than your skills. I am well aware of the many, many ways in which my art sucks adding one more to the pile doesn't mean much.

I just redrew a piece that I did around 100 ays ago. After I was done I pulled up my the original piece and my head nearly melted ark of the covenant style it was a fucking abomination. I owe a lot of that improvement to all the damn fetishes art this thread inspired. It's a good resource as long as you remember where you are.

I just thought this is a fun place to share art and I like doing requests because it motivates me to finish something.
I honestly tend to take criticism to heart too much especially if it's not worded kindly. I don't really seek it out either since I can usually find a lot of faults with my art anyway.
I'm fine with suggestions and such if people are being nice and am happy to implement them if I agree with them but I'd like to decide for myself how I want my drawing to look since I have strong opinions about art and value things that aren't necessarily popular.
If someone just "fixes" it, it feels like some agency is being taken away from me so I'd just like to politely ask people to not do that.
That doesn't mean everyone has to feel about it that way but maybe it's worth considering that someone might.

I don't have any requests but I do have a question for artists so I thought this'd be a good place to ask. Because I was watching Petra and Maria's art stream and noticed they both consistently started with the eyes when they drew someone. Is that actually how you're supposed to draw a person, you start with the eyes and work around them? I don't know anything about art but I would have assumed you draw the head first. So I was wondering if anyone can explain the logic to me.

You can start wherever you want. I typically start where the focus of the illustration will be, which almost always includes the face. If you're drawing foot fetish art you might start with the feet for example. It's up to personal preference.

The textbook method is to start with the head because it's the proportional basis to measure everything else from. (Torso is 1.5 head length, shoulder to shoulder roughly 2 heads wide, pelvis is 1 head length, etc)
Once you're advanced enough and know how to measure back from any body parts you can start with whatever. I like to start with the Booba when drawing huge milker characters because it's roughly just under the size of a head anyway.
