If your previous wave didn't establish themselves before to have a solid viewerbase, they are in danger of losing viewers to the new wave. If the new wave isn't amazing out the park, the viewers will just go back to the old one. That's probably why you see more graduations in nijisanji because they are tired of fighting against themselves.

Hololive gives their talents a year worth of time for them to pander and gather as much as core fanbase as they could, hence they expand their market instead of eating away/waiting for crumbs from the other talent's audience.
