Alright folks, time to make your voices heard! Here is the poll for /vtwbg/'s divegrass roster: https://strawpoll.com/polls/e6Z2eKP8EgN
This poll will run for 48 hours, during which you can vote for up to 19 candidates you would like to see become part of the team. As a reminder, this poll will be for the non-medals only. We have streamlined the suggestions from the original rentry and in the previous thread to make things simpler, but there is also an "Other" option to write in alternate candidates if needed. Keep in mind that this poll is mostly to determine the concept for the players so that models can be worked on. Details like player names and shirt text can continue to be discussed. Good luck to all of our candidates!

Well it depends on how modern /mans/ is at their architecture. And by modern I mean how well their math in construction is evolved. If they have a solid foundation in architecture then the rest is figuring out what materials are available. In Texas for example housing was built out of limestone bricks until the railroads brought lumber. So maybe you can figure out your local building materials first. Then you have to build around the weather. If it floods a lot then you want to raise your housing or build on hills. If its wet then you want to avoid soft wood or at least have your wood/grass replaceable for molds. If you have clay then ceramic clay roofing is very waterproof.

Well, there are water-resistant woods (indeed, many trees that grow in the subtropic monsoon probably need a decent level of water resistance to survive in the first place) and coating (Mesoamericans make use of lime plaster for that, and I think Europe has its own plaster for similar purpose), so it shouldn't be a major issue.

Usually the ones extreme enough to warrant architectural adaptional are the A (tropical), B (desert/steppe), and w (monsoonal). Technically E counts as well, but living in the tundra and icecap itself requires a lot of adaptations to begin with.

I don't want to ACKCHYUALLY you, so regarding /risu/s climate, it's mostly because of its geography. The root cause is basically that the land is influenced by ocean currents of both coasts. In the east coast, the current is warm as it comes from the tropics, which is hotter and wetter, thus resulting in heavier rainfall in /risu/, which puts it in the humid subtropical climate when combined with its subtropical latitude (and lack of significant elevation). In the west coast, the current is cold as it comes from the (somewhat) more temperate north around the /wah/-/kfp/ coast, which makes it colder and drier, thus resulting in lighter rainfall in /risu/. Its temperature is still subtropical, but the lower rainfall means water will evaporate faster than it precipitates, thus making the land drier. It should be noted that it's not desert level yet (which is further south from /risu/, where the hotter climate makes it drier), so you can still see mixed woodland and grassland as they require less water to thrive than dense forest.
Still, I would say the cold current on the west coast is probably more mild than usual since it originates further south than usual due to the continent being in the way, so you can probably expect it to feel relatively wet, and fog might be common as a result.

Yeah, it's pretty cool, and technically /risu/ has a climate combination that isn't present in other places on this world, so that's pretty neat for them. That said, a similar pattern can be seen with its southern neighbours, just that the hotter weather put them in a different pair, and there are other countries with interesting climate combination too. This is partly because of how climates work, but also partly because I try my best to make countries more unique from each other in that regard whenever plausible, so I try to avoid painting large chunks of land in a single colour (although sometimes it's unavoidable, like with eastern holo continent and southern South Indie continent).

Makes sense. /who/ has many inspirations. So their architecture would be anachronistic. You could have architecture be simplistic yet functional. Rural areas could have stone brick houses with hay roofs. The cities could use grout bricks and tile roofing. The wealthier cities can have classical architecture while industrial areas would be more simple. Just my two cents.

Imo the focus on ancient history on classical Hellenic and Roman history in culture really skewed people's perception on architecture. Marble and Limestone were used in earlier mediterranean areas because they were easy to carve and easy to find. If you look at northern Europe they use other stones and wood for their settlements. >> No.29898084

It's kind of to be expected given how often countries in the West were/are run by Grecophiles and Romanophiles, and admittedly the image of orderly pristine white buildings is pretty aesthetically pleasing even if it probably never happened until early modern times. I agree that Medieval Scandinavian architecture (which is probably the closest there is to non-Greco-Roman classical European architecture) looks pretty neat, though.

>> No.29898238

>>29897679
Northern European monestaries would be a start. And if /who/ was a warring states period then their architecture might have traces of Gothic. That said I think early /who/ architecture needs to be buildings and structures that can easily be rebuilt and repaired. Many structures were torn down and burned to the ground in the early wars. So it'd be impractical to build a beautiful house if it didn't withstand attacks. Once the Republic is settled Hoomans could then experiment with more permanent architecture structures.

>> No.29898382

>>29897567
I don't really want to call everything anachronistic. It's still an unknown but /who/ would have its own lineage of architecture tradition which makes it host a range of building styles that only emerged in the mid-late 19th century and some buildings that probably looks more like Hellenic temples. The general train of thought of how I came up with the simplified neo-baroque is also for the "simplistic yet functional" philosophy most architects in /who/ probably have. But it's mostly because I just think of baroque
when thinking about 18th cen architecture...
But you do bring up a good point that I would like to incorporate into the eventual architecture lore, that the circumstance and use of the buildings would influence the styles and materials they use. New cities would have a lot of brick buildings perhaps reinforced with metal because they are easy to manufacture and accommodate the growing population. While important cities would have more luxury to have some more "impracticalities" in the form of neo-classical buildings. And there's the pure functionalism of some rural farmsteads.

>>29898238
Yeah that's probably one of the biggest influences on how the overall styles in /who/ developed.

/morig/
The Deadbeats' bones have been hardened by centuries of endless schizo raids, attacks on their land and faith from other nations, civil warfare setting Deadbeat against Deadbeat in useless, bloody conflicts. The people who remain on the island are those who did not cower, did not recoil, did not run in the face of adversity. Those pressures have forged the people of Moriji into the relentless, undying men and women we find today. Their love for Their Mori has turned their skin white and their bones to steel, and they sail a fearsome navy to take the fight to those who would dare assault their home. In the Underworld, deadly shrine maidens guard Mont Mori, where the Goddess awaits the Last Battle on the mountaintop. In the streets of their cities, the Deadbeats hold up a man's liberty to choose his path to meeting Mori as the primordial principle around which their society is organized. In the harbors, they welcome the foreign and the exotic with open arms; if you can find in yourself love for Mori, you will find friends in Moriji.
If you approach their land with you sword in hand and heresy on your mind, however, heed these words: Deadbeats Fear not the Reaper; she's an old friend, who will welcome your blasphemous soul as warmly as any other.

/meat/
The tropical people of /meat/ is a deeply religious people, who have burdened themselves with the responsibility of consuming vtuber gods through their followers in an attempt to stave off the collapse of heaven due to overpopulation. Their religious fervour, enhanced by macabre magic, has driven them to utilise every bit of their prey to great effect.
/meat/heads are a seafaring people, searing the image of great raiding fleets into the collective consciousness of many of its targets, long after their naval dominance was contested. While smaller raids continue to happen against undefended coasts, /meat/have since expanded its seeming omnipresent cult of cannibalism and sadomasochism across the world, subtly influencing other countries and securing more discrete food sources.
Despite their infamy, /meat/heads are remarkably friendly towards visitors and others outside their raids. In addition to a strong sense of sacred hospitality, some of the more enterprising /meat/heads have utilised /meat/'s unique tropical environment and ecosystem to trade with the rest of the world. Some welcome what they see as the beginning of /meat/'s reformation into a "normal" country, while others are worried by what they consider to be but another facade of the ever-expanding cult.
>Some wording can benefit from refinement and clarification (should we really touch on chuubanite in the introduction?), and a disclaimer on the superiority of OOC consensus might be required, both in general for this project and in particular for /meat/ cult.

>physiology is too tied to /morig/
Perhaps some similar physiology, the descendants inheriting basic Deadbeat phenotypes like height and endurance. But not a direct facsimile with the absence of Mori chuubanite, and Gasha chuubanite would not have a similar radiation effect. A Deadbeat could take one glance at a Gasha Meathead and go "Wow. That's a malnourished Deadbeat." Anything further and they start seeing discrepancies. Wolves in sheep's fur.

Lunaitos are a culture inspired by traditional ideas of knighthood taken to the utmost extreme with every citizen, be they a fighter or not, wearing armor as their regular clothing and striving to work towards knightly greatness no matter what profession they take. The Candy Kingdom is largely made out of edible treats, gingerbread trees, jelly bean bushes, and chocolate pits are just some naturally occuring desserts.
Lunaitos all have unnaturally high blood sugar levels to the point where their fluids and flesh are sweet to taste. They are ruled by the Hime Vessel, a forever young representation of the lunar goddess Himemori Luna who is protected by an honored guard of Elite Lunaitos.

i don't think we should divide our chuubanite too much, with that said, since our central concept is the life cycle, and given how much we have in common with /morig/ overall, it might be possible that the same kind of chuubanite, under the right conditions, can act like /morig/ chuubanite. how about an activator substance of /morig/ chuubanite? so it's literally our normal chuubanite, but in the presence of /morig/ chuubanite, maybe it does something with our calcium in the same way it does for /morig/, thus creating a similar, yet distinct reaction that replaces the need for /morig/ chuubanite. not too sure how well it could work, i have been a bit distracted recently with irl stuff.

I think that is very likely to have happened! Deadbeats taken from their home would be pretty upset, anything skeleton-like would help their mood... Keep in mind, Deadbeat alterations are not genetic, they're Lamarckian, induced by continued exposure to Mori chuubanite. The children of the first generation of sholo and talaltilli would have a normal skeleton, skin and tissues if raised outside of Moriji.
But Moriji is pretty welcoming of foreigners, and if those descendants speak relatively fluent Moriji, that would certainly give them an edge in spying operations.
Anon >>29917672 was ahead of me kek.
Gasha chuubanite... Might be fun if it was a kind of camouflage chuubanite. It makes the person exposed to it thinner and paler, but without the increased mineralization, kinda like butterflies that are harmless but adopt the colors of poisonous butterflies as a defence mechanism. If it did the same thing as /morig/ chuubanite I guess you wouldn't need to raid us for our bones, you could just grow 'em at home kek.
>>29918014
You're correct, Deadbeat raid descendants would have recognizably deadbeat characteristics. It's kinda funny to think that a non-Deadbeatified Deadbeat could be recognized as such by Deadbeats, since there is probably a Deadbeat diaspora in other countries that comes home occasionally.

My headcanon of /meat/-Chuubanite, and other general conceptual Vtubium, is that the targeted effects can be modified based on the 'patron deity'.
Paragraphanon proposed incomplete glyphs and the use of complex designs similar to that of integrated circuits.
Which for a general multi-tool chuubanite would be very useful.
/nasfaqg/ Chuubanite can be modify further based on specific patron deities.
/meat/ Chuubanite can alter specific life processes depending on which deity. Komma for floral growth, Mai for general growth, AwA for making organic material extremely malleable like clay, Minori increases endurance by converting kinetic energy into pleasure, etc.

But /morig/'s central concept is the death cycle. We are similar because we mirror each other; we make the same movements, but in opposite directions. The Mori chuubanite-induced mineralization makes the tissues more immutable, more inorganic, less alive, less fleshy. Conceptually, I don't think it aligns well with the themes of /meat/ chuubanite. But that's just my view, it's your chuubanite, you can approach this however you want.

the reason i think /meat/ chuubanite could produce an effect similar to /morig/ is 1) our concepts are surprisingly similar, we disagree on our views of death, but otherwise we are remarkably similar in a whole bunch of ways. 2) /morig/ chuubanite works by increasing the amount of calcium in someone's body essentially, more complicated but we can talk about it later, /meat/ makes things, including bones, go through their life cycle at a faster rate, meaning bones regrow faster. that's the whole point of our fleshwrights. our healing is imperfect, and as they have /morig/ chuubanite in their body, they will imperfectly heal their body around something that is more like that of a deadbeat, potentially causing mutations that directly supplement that kind of body until it is basically the standard, including the increased calcium in the body and whatever form it does, that's a very poorly described version of it.
>>29918512
was i the one who came up with the incomplete glyphs for the tattoos? or are you refering to artificial glyphs? that might make more sense of the rest of your comment. still, chuubanite is based off of thread concepts, not chuubas, but chuubas influence them. either have a different chuubanite, or a requirement for an activator substance if you want these kinds of unique interactions.
>>29918542
the life cycle is birth, suffering, death, and rebirth. they are mirror copies of each other, but the concepts are only really different based on the impact. imagine the heros journey, but reversed. things are better, and then an evil force rises, and then the hero suffers a defeat, and then things are at a status quo that is not as good as the beginning. sounds depressing compared to the normal chronology, yet both are the hero's journey. hell, the villains journey is the hero's journey, but their failure fuels their vices instead of their virtues. it's all the same concept with slight modifications to it. that is the kind of relation we have, i think.

The Retro Reich is a nation focused on the collection of old technologies, artifacts and relics for which the nation has many workshops of many different faiths and culture that do their best to restore, maintain and modify these retro things. In order to achieve this goal, it has grown into one of the biggest mercantile and naval nations of the world to amass enough wealth to be able to buy other people's retro stuff. It's ruling class is mostly made up by Onobots who in their naive minds would rather see the humanoids live in unity than in conflict.

The Tribal Confederation of Risu is a nation of humanoids with squirrel tails and ears. They are known for using a variety of nuts as their currency instead of traditional coin as well as their extreme obsession with sex. Prostitution is not only accepted but encouraged to foreigners. Risuners are so obsessed with their countries natural beauty that they try to keep foreign intervention at the beaches and lumber chopping is highly regulated. Deep within the forests are witches that use gemstones for magic purposes and even grow gems out of trees underground in secret caverns.
