They're all fucking garbage. If I want to watch a flesh streamer then I'll watch a flesh streamer. If you're going to use a 2D avatar you'd better put the effort into actually playing the role.

Personally, I could never manage to cross that bridge. No matter what, there's a person behind that mask. They can never be anime characters, no matter how good the presentation is. That doesn't mean you can't have fun with it, but it's harder to suspend my disbelief compared to an actual anime girl, and yes I know that sounds deranged.

The best vtubers are just streamers with avatars instead of facecams, and a bit more artifice to their entertainer personality. The more they lean into the character/lore shit the worse they become. Very few exceptions (Salome comes to mind)
