If it gets hot enough that the barrels can melt then a cookoff would probably happen way before the barrel starts to melt. Wrought iron starts to melt at around 1500C. If it's some kind of chuubanite thermal weapon then yeah I can see the barrel melting but if it's one that used gun powder then the crew would've been killed or injured by the cook off before they could even see the barrel gets red hot.

Not exactly a metal guy nor I am that well versed in firearms but from what little know you need to use decent quality metals for guns because if you do use shit metal your gun cracks and shit,firearms go trhough alot of strain simply by being used. Barrels melt after going through thousands and thousands of ammo, I think the gun would crack and break off a bunch of pieces in your story rather than have just the barrel melt.

A grapeshot mitrailleuse would be slightly more time appropriate and technically easier to build early, I think that would be a good choice! I would suggest to simply have the steel block used to load the cartridges into the barrels blow out into the operator's face in the middle of discharging the rounds. That would be the point put under the most stress.

Depending on how the arms industry in /inf/ works you might be able to keep gatlings or mitrailleuses if they are manufactured by master clock smiths and are over-complicated in terms of maintenance and only a handful can be made. Otherwise some kind of organ gun would be better.

Quick look at the wiki, fouling built up from the black powder is still a problem and the inexperienced crew can damage the mechanism. If you go with the over-complicated but few route it can be a reason why they rean't super effective. Like they weren't built for the field and gets a malfunction every few volleys.

If people in real life order this than a nut pizza would definitely exist. Besides I don't think Vitubia have "standardized" pizzas. A note: you mention in the text that mammal bones are as strong as steel while being lighter; this kills the material science autist. Studies comparing particular bone geometries with an equivalent weight in steel of a different geometry found the bone could resist greater loads. However, much of this is due to the geometry (the porous cellular/honeycombed structure of bone) of the material. Bulk bone material properties compared to bulk metal material properties, for the same weight, are at best almost as good and at worse very inferior to most metals, depending on the alloys of course. I can get much more autistic about this if you're interested, but basically I'd say "A Rosebuta's ground tissue for the skeleton, to put it in simple terms, compares favorably to an animal's bone tissue in terms of material properties."

if it's a cultural thing, everything made would be given some kind of identification when it was made, and would be changed to reflect the new context whenever the context were to change. hell, it might even be made to be modifiable, so someone would only need a trinket or something to self-identify and attach it to the thing they were using in some mechanically relevant way to make it better in the specific context it was designed for. the main problem would be over the chuubanite, but depending on how abundant chuubanite is in your system it might not be too difficult for poor people to access.
in short, there are ways to get around most problems we can identify if we are creative enough, and if we are willing to make a few compromises on how things work on the more technical level. i hope i can inspire other people to think like that.

exactly my thought, but it would have to be even more personalized than that. basically, a glyph that symbolizes the person themselves. ya i think you get the idea. one thing that is worth noting, though, is that how and where such a thing fits into the object they are using will play a large role in it's effect. chuubanite has to exert a kind of force on something to change anything in the physical realm, just putting it anywhere without trying to make it influence the physics of whatever mechanism they are using won't improve any specific aspect of it on it's own, but there are ways of getting around that, too. i already have a few, but i want to see what breed of suggestion you will start looking for first.

i mean since its a chuubanite ability the idea is that chuubanite has been worked into the items beforehand for the normal usage of just improving but that only really would make it a "better burst of improvement" wich wasn't what i generally wanted but more like a emotional "deus ex"

i initially did not like this way of doing it since it seemed like people get to "choose" the soulbind but now that the symbol itself has a different meaning, what if for identification the personal symbol is tattoed over their hearts, wich is symbolic for the center of emotions, in their own blood with a portion of chuubanite and the symbol on the item also includes a part of their blood and this creates a link fo some sort?
