A pick me specifically does things at the expense of their own group. It doesn't nessecarily even have to be about women I've seen it being used in fandoms too when one side tries to gain favor with another by putting down their own side.

That kind of attitude in a guy is a huge red flag all around, and much worse in men than women. After all, women are more social, and one who values her man over her friends/family is seen as sacrificial, selfless and devoted. In turn, if a guy likes her enough, she might wind up having a successful relationship and starting a family of her own.

Meanwhile, a guy who backstabs his bros in a desperate bid to get laid is usually only desperate for one thing, and takes "every man for himself" to the extreme rather than being selfless. Then, since he'll dump his pals whenever it's convenient, who's to say he won't drop her too when it turns out real women aren't bastions of divine perfection and can actually be annoying as fuck? He's the type who'd wind up throwing away his friends and woman, just to check having sex off the ol' bucket list.
