So on the topic of Skeb, I want to request a character design but I'm not sure the site's request system allows to go into details about what I want or I'm looking for in that design. Most of the time the requests I see delivered on there give some sort of character design reference for the artist, so I want to know how I request character design instead of just illustrations of said design?

Since it sounds like you don't have a character yet, do your best to put together a composite image of what you're looking for. I would not trust a mood board. copy and paste images together, take stock photos and overlay them on top of each other, etc. to frankenstein a design that'll work.

alternatively, just commission an EN artist who does character design for cheap and toss it the way of a JP artist on skeb to get it done in their style afterwards. there's a ton of skebs where the reference is basically some scribble or even a Final Fantasy XIV character creator screenshot and pictures of clothes.

- hey, so here's a really cool insight into how i prepare for my streams and my thought process when i come up with these ideas
- hey, there's something i want to do when i hit X milestone, and it's (A B C), i wanna make it an enjoyable thing for everyone and here are my thoughts, you guys have ideas?

it has nothing to do with you, personally, as the actor behind the vtuber model. but more to do with your CONTENT and how that content is made.

if you do shit like, pre-recorded skits, maybe show them some silly things that were cut out of the final render. behind the scenes, and blooper reels, you know? treat it as more of a way to give access to your supporters about the process that leads up to your creation.

kept separately from your usual stream (regular content), and membership (special content), look at it as more of HOW both types of content are created. because THAT is the kind of shit people will pay good money for.

>> No.2804076

>>2804016
It depends what they will opt for - will they read all applications or will they decide to stop at an arbitrary date. If you don't have a view they physically didnt open your application considering its the first thing they see and look at.

>> No.2804467 [DELETED]

>>2804076
Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. It would make sense for them to just drop or ignore other applications if they have a sizeable group to interview already. They left the application window open for so long though. Unless they somehow didn't realize just how many people would apply, on top of encouraging late applicants, I would hope that they'd look through most of them that didn't already get filtered out by things like gender or being underage. But maybe there really was just too many eligible people, and well, that's good too.

>> No.2804503

yeah, i don't see the transition happening anytime soon. you need to cover a LOT of basics first before you're gonna get anywhere close.

learn to control and project your own voice first before trying to change it to something else, especially if the gap is that large.

like 9 times out of 10, any voice is going to work, and once you get started, people will just associate your voice and your character. it can range from high energy traditional idol type stuff like Kiara, or low energy normal voice like Ina, or whatever in between.

the key is to find what you can do that won't strain your vocal chords across a 2 hour stream.

also keep in mind that many streamers will eventually return to their normal voices. Subaru did a comparison video watching her debut stream and commented on how she's not using such a squawky voice. same with Ollie from HoloID, she's toned down her energy a lot and you can tell a difference between her debut and normal stream voice now.

there isn't a "streaming" voice. there's just whatever that works for you.

Also I'm unsure how important it is for a streamer to finish a game, you'll let down some people by dropping something you got far into.
If you are looking to actually hit peak viewer increase, just play new games on release and do it well as fast as you possibly can.

As someone who intends to stream a lot of diablo style games (and metroidvanias), and also plays a lot of PoE, you'll want to look up guides for the game. It's ridiculously complicated to make a 'good' build, let alone one that can do high end maps. I've got over 700 hours in the game and I still have to look stuff up all the time and refer to build guides for build archetypes I haven't done before. The game has a lot of super fast ways to kill you as well so expect a lot of deaths where you just have no fucking idea what happened.

It does have a pretty steady community, however. And a new league just started so viewership is higher than average. Though it started a week ago so it'll steadily lower for a bit until the next league starts.

Any and all design debuffs can be counteracted if you are entertaining enough. The market was already oversaturated with lolis yet look how successful Gura became.

That is to say though, you do need to be entertaining if you are going to be an anime boy in a hoodie. You can't get by on design alone if you arent going to attempt to set yourself apart.

I would not recommend skeb for this, depending on what this is for
Theres no revisions or feedback with skeb, if you're designing your vtuber character you almost always will want to revise something, skeb just isnt a good platform for this
you can discover artists on there though and see if they offer comms on different platforms too or have direct contact available

>> No.2855272

>>2854732
Definitely this.
Skeb also has VERY strict rules regarding what you may use the art for. Unless the artist is 100% aware that you will be using it commercially, you are breaking the TOS if you use any of the skebs as notifications or alerts.

You do not have commercial right unless specified by the artist explicitly.

>> No.2857215

>>2842565
I don't know how to get more specific than that, it sounds like a guy trying to do a cutesy voice. To sound like a girl takes a lot more than simply just talking in a high pitched voice. It probably doesn't help that you're speaking through your nose to, which is a problem a lot of people have when trying to do something like that. You can tell if you're speaking through your nose if you pinch the bridge of your nose and feel it vibrate on most/all of your words. There are certain sounds that might cause that regardless, but if you feel it vibrating most of the time then that's one of a couple problems going on

>> No.2857373

Kinda tells why guys do such a bad job playing girl characters. They think they just need to talk in a high pitched voice and say some cutesy shit and call it a day.

>> No.2857425

>>2857373
that stems from the fact that most guys are just coomerbrains and believe "if i'm attracted to surface level high voices and booba, then so much everyone else" which is why they don't care to actually have good content (or even personalities) since that's not something they care about themselves.

it's really more telling about the guys themselves than anything, really.

- get a clip of a voice actor (or regular actor) or whatever, talking at least a paragraph's worth of shit
- get a voice recording app (there's one on your voice)
- listen to the actor talk, and repeat it into your phone (like at least 30 seconds worth)
- write down the areas that you want to improve, shit like
> i said the word "regularly" weird
> he has a soft r rolling sound
> the way i pronounce X word is not where i want it to be
- start practicing every day, paying attention to your vocal chords, your mouth, tongue position, lips, everything. the idea here is to figure out what the muscles in your face, mouth, and throat are doing when it makes a noise, and how you can flex/relax/combo those muscles to get you to sound the way you want it to sound.

(this shit will take fucking weeks, so do it often)

Here's some dead honest feedback:

>Volume and general comprehensibility is overall alright, you're kinda hard to hear when you're concentrating on stuff like drawing and it sounds like you're muttering a bit

>chat interaction is on point, there's very little dead air

>the stories you tell are very entertaining, you have a slight tendency to repeat the last few sentences a few times in a row but honestly you can tell a good story, the school stuff was a blast to hear

>don't talk anything resembling politics IMO, the IRA stuff should have probably been left unsaid, some people think the 'RA are terrible ,the others consider them heroes, it ain't worth discussing

>more entertaining while sobering up than when drunk

Overall, very promising.

Thank you i appreciate you a lot.
I've tried to stay away from political stuff. I should have stopped with the IRA stuff and i think a part of me was telling me drop it but idk.
I try not to have dead air but it's hard when there's no one watching, doing my best.
I think i move to far away from the mic when concentrating and my tabled gets in the wa because i look down. I do have a tendency to mutter i think too.
Drunk streams aren't planned to be common just gimmicky.
Overall i just really like talking to people and telling stories. although i'm sure i'll end up reapeating stories like how i repeat sentences.
Once again thank you for watching. I really do appreciate it AND the feedback. It means alot to me. i will work on all the points to presented.
