I legitimately don't understand how people come up with excuses for holoEN's work ethic. They have much less groundwork than their JP counterparts and still barely get off their asses. I'll go even further than OP and say it's pathetic that there are streamers that work full time jobs and stream more than entire gens of holoEN combined.

The whole concept of "graduation" only makes sense in the context of Hololive. Cover holds their talent by the balls, they have the right to their IP, models and everything. It's basically a nicer word for "contract termination".
As for indies (and some other companies), "graduating" is basically pointless. Something happens in your life that you have to stream less or can't stream anymore? Just go on hiatus, possibly an indefinite one, and resume whenever you feel like it (or not). You don't even need to announce a hiatus if you want to pop up on some rare occasions from time to time. Most of the time indies announce graduations only because they're mimicking the concept, not that they actually need to.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that the problem isn't being a "part-time streamer", but the kind of a deal you have with your company if you want to be a part-time streamer. That can actually work out if you're not expecting to have big numbers and are doing it just for your own fun.

But, even if this hololive stuff is a side gig, it shows if the roomate TREATS it like a side-gig.
