You can't build a community of ass kissers whose only purpose being is there is to fuck the person who is the center of the community.
No one is welcomed since every single person coming in is a "rival", newcomers are ignored unless they are celebrities or the chuuba decides to acknowledge them, in which case the other suck ups follow through.
Sooner or later the chuuba gets sick of it and fucks off and then the community turns into something else, sometimes being composed entirely of people who don't watch said vtuber.
Meanwhile the vtuber will spend time in other people's discords or in secret ones because it takes the pressure off them.
Then in the secret ones they start talking shit about others because they think no one is watching and sooner or later leaks happen.
"Every vtuber has one!" doesn't mean it is a good idea.
Seep knows this perfectly well since she lived through all this over and over, leaked screenshot arc included, but groomers eventually get their way sooner or later and the promise that it will "increase viewership" is too tempting to pass after you start declining.
There are exceptions to this of course, but the odds are most people who enjoy their personal chuuba discord are unaware of the GOT tier drama that occurs in channels they cannot access or the amount of schizos mods usually deal with, which usually also make them trigger happy. It is also a problem that every mod also wants to fuck said vtuber and sooner or later they will quit for "mental health" reasons because he failed to do so and became depressed.

In conclusion it is at best time and effort wasted for no tangible benefits and at worst a ticking time bomb. No, that ping wont bring new viewers precisely because discord is a "closed community".
Discord is for all purposes a glorified telegram group. You will be better off building a community in fucking reddit of all places since newcomers might walk in, but good luck convincing anyone of that.

Just wanted to thank everyone who stopped by for the 24 hour anniversary stream yesterday and Friday! I can't believe it's been a year already, and I've been having a blast streaming. If I ever do a 24 hour stream again, I need to plan it better, and probably start in the morning this time instead of waiting for evening. Even after sleeping for a solid 12 hours straight, it took me a long time to actually wake up and get going today.

CLO's appeal is its ease in converting into physical patterns, and how easy it is to grade patterns. You can draft in CLO and grade the CAD pattern to fit different sizes, and send that to the factory. It has nothing to do with vtubing, but it's a decent platform for making clothing for sale. You can even apply different physics to the clothing and put it on a virtual model and get a rough idea how it'd look going down the runway. Compared to pattern-drafting by hand it can save a bunch of time, although you lose a bit of the intuitiveness of working on paper.

From what I saw - Discord is good idea if your viewers are good. If you can filter out all the crappy ppl and groom rest into actually behaving properly, go for it. Also find mods that are decent human beings - they don't need a lot of experience, but need to be understanding, not creepy and don't be some randos that will disappear suddenly. Also treat them well, they are working for you for free.

I've been called a very parasocial person in the past, and while it was by some extremely crab bucket-y people that were explicitly trying to make me feel like shit... I can't help but wonder how accurate they are. I guess my problem is I tend to be a bit loose in my definition of what a friend is.
